Lets talk who both have fought okay??? Let's start with Mayweather.
Mayweather beat a past prime-still really good Genaro Hernandez in 1998. Hernandez' only loss was 3 years earlier to Oscar, and was coming off wins. He was the recognized SFW Champion.
Mayweather than beat a prime Aangel Manfredy, who was coming off a win over a prime Gatti. He was the top SFW contender, and hadn't lost in over 4 years in his early career.
Mayweather beat a prime Diego Corrales, unbeaten, and both were seen as the top SFW in the world.
Mayweather than beat a prime Carlos Hernandez and a prime Jesus Cahvez (both were top SFW contenders, would go on to be future title holders, and would go on to fight Morales).
Mayweather than beat a prime Jose Luis Castillo, seen as the top LW in the world. Some though Castillo won the first fight, and Floyd agreed to an IMMEDIATE rematch (something Manny can't do when a fighter has his number) and won convincingly.
Mayweather than beat a prime Phillip N'dou, who hadn't lost in over 5 years and was seen as a top LW contender.
Mayweather beat a past prime Arturo Gatti. Gatti was past his prime, but hadn't lost in over 3 years and was coming off 5 straight wins.
Mayweather beat a prime Zab Judah. Judah was coming off an upset loss to Baldomir, but none the less, Judah was IN HIS PRIME.
Mayweather than beat a past prime-still good Carlos Baldomir. Baldomir hadn't lost a fight in 8 years and had just beaten a prime Judah, and was the recognized WW champion.
Mayweather than went up to 154 lbs and beat a past prime De La Hoya. Oscar was past his prime, but in his comeback fight he had just KO'd Mayorga, in a fight many people were picking Ricardo to win. He beat Oscat ar 154.
Mayweather than beat a prime Ricky Hatton, unbeaten, #4 P4P in the world. Hatton had fought at 147 before, and was moving up to fight Mayweather for his 147 lb titles.
Mayweather than beat a past prime-still good Marquez, but at 144 where Marquez was easily dominated. Marquez only loss in 4 years was a controversial SD loss to Pac a year earlier.
Mayweather than beat a past prime Shane Mosley. Mosley was coming off a KO win over Margarito and was seen as one of the top WW in the world.
Mayweather than beat a prime Ortiz. Ortiz was coming off 5 wins and a draw he should have won, with one of the wins over a prime unbeaten Berto.
Mayweather is now rumored to be looking for a fight with Sergio Martinez.
On to Manny now.
Manny beat a prime Barrera, coming oiff wins. His best win to date.
Manny fought a draw with a prime Marquez. Many people thought Marquez actually won, but Manny refused the rematch.
Manny than fought a prime/latter-prime Morales, and lost. Morales was coming off a loss to Barrera.
Manny than fought a rematch with Morales a year later. Morales was considered past prime-still really good, not the same guy, you can't argue that. Also, Morales was coming off a loss to Raheem.
Manny than fought Morales again, past prime still good, and won.
Manny than beat a prime Solis, unbeaten.
Manny than beat a past prime Barrera, in a rematch that took over 4 years to make. Barrera was coming off a loss to Marquez.
Manny than beat a past prime-still good Marquez. Many people thought Marquez won, but Manny refused the rematch.
Manny than beat a past prime-still good Diaz. Diaz was coming off wins, and was seen as a pretty good LW at the time. Good win.
Manny than beat a past prime Oscar, at 147 lbs, where he hadn't been in over 8 years.
Manny than beat a past prime-still good Hatton. Hatton was coming off a KO loss to Floyd, and two underwhelming outings against Lazcano and Malignaggi.
Manny than beat a past prime-still good Cotto. Cotto was coming off a KO loss to Margarito, a win over as nobody in Jennings, and a controversial SD win over a past prime Clottey.
Manny than beat a past prime Clottey. Clottey hadn't even won a fight in 2 years.
Manny than beat a past prime Margarito. Margarito was coming off a KO loss to Mosley.
Manny than beat a past prime Mosley. Shane was coming off a one-sided loss to Floyd and a horrible draw with Mora.
Manny than chose to fight a past prime Marquez. Marquez is coming off a couple wins and hasn't lost in 2 years, but Floyd already dominated him at 144 easily. Yet Pac fans knock Mayweather for fighting Marquez 2 years ago when he had more left at 144.
Next, Manny is rumored to be fighting Bradley. Good pick. Bradley is in his prime, unbeaten, and #7 P4P. His best pick since Marquez in 08' or Morales in 05' at least.
Also, you want to say Mayweather ducked Margarito and Cotto, the two that people think he did, right??? Well, after Judah, Floyd split with Arum, to which Arum said "I will never do business with Mayweather again". Mayweather signs to fight Baldomir and Arum says Floyd is avoiding Margarito. With Cotto, Floyd and his camp had been calling out Cotto in 2006-2007, to which Top Rank replied with "Cotto isn't ready for Mayweather". When Mayweather announces he's done after Hatton, than Cotto and Arum say Floyd is ducking.
Also, if he ducked them, didn't Manny "duck/avoid" Raheem in 2005 after Zahir beat Morales. Or didn't he "avoid" Joan Guzman from in 2007-2008 after Guzman beat Soto??? Or didn't Pacquiao avoid a Barrera rematch for years until Barrera was past his prime??? Or didn't Pacquiao avoid a Marquez rematch for 4 years after the draw??? Or didn't Pacquiao avoid a third fight Marquez for 3 1/2 years until Marquez is completely done, and when Floyd already handily beat him at 144??? Or didn't Pacquiao avoid Mosley in 2009-2010 after Shane had KO'd Margarito, only to fight him in 2011 after Mosley lost to Floyd and looked god awful against Mora (also Pac asked for a fight with Shane at 142, to which Mosley agreed, but than no word from Pac)??? Or didn't Pacquiao avoid a unification match with Berto in 2010, when Berto had been calling for a fight with Pac, and he instead chose Clottey and Margarito in 2010??? Or didn't Pacquiao avoid a fight in 2011 with Ortiz, who had just dehtroned Berto, for a fight with a past prime Marquez, who Mayweather already dominated over 2 years ago??? Or didn't Pacquiao say he would fight Martinez at 150, to which Sergio agreed, but than backed away from that too right???
You can't have it both ways. Manny has consistently fought guys coming off losses at least 70% of the time, while Floyd's only high profile fight against a guy coming off a loss was against Judah in 2006, and at least Zab was in his prime than.
Once Mayweather fihgts Martinez, when are you Mayweather haters going to say next???
Martinez is 37 and past it. Martinez was exposed by Barker. Martinez was never really that good. Martinez aged over night.
I can't wait to hear it. The fact is, Mayweather fighting Martinez is cementing his legacy if he wins. Martinez has looked better than ever the past 2-3 years, is as quick as ever, stronger than ever, as good a relfexes as ever, and Pac fans can't stand that Mayweather might fight him, not Pacquiao, who hasn't fought a tough opponent coming in since Marquez in 08'.
If Mayweather beats Martinez, he will take #1 P4P back with ease, and cement his legacy, even the Mayweather haters can't deny that. Sergio is better than ever and is one of the top fighters in anyw eight class, in the world.
Only mentioned Pac because of the obvious comparisons. You don't give Mayweather any credit ever.
If he beats Martinez and Khan (the two most likely names to fight Floyd in 2012), what will you say???
