  • Comments Thread For: Hopkins is Released From The Hospital, Injury update

Staples Center, Los Angeles - Chad Dawson (31-1, 18KOs) stopped Bernard Hopkins (52-6-2, 32KOs) in the second round to capture the WBC light heavyweight title. During the second, Hopkins leaned over on Dawson, who used his shoulder to push him off. Hopkins went down near the ropes and told the referee, Pat Russell, that he suffered a shoulder injury and couldn't continue. Because there was no foul involved, Russell ruled the fight in favor of Dawson and made him the TKO winner.

    Here come the conspiracy theories.

Because a certified Doctor would put his reputation/career on the line, and consent to his name being used in a LIE, just to help a Fighter.

      NO-CONTEST.

      Make it happen boxing.

      I don't care if there's a rematch or not.

But that fight was not a TKO.

IMO Dawson would OWN Hopkins in a rematch....Hopkins needs to hang them up.

According to Hopkins he said he "wanted to continue" to the referee. Not that he "couldn't continue".

Well, seems legit but I would still like to see the Report and X-Rays.

did you make that assumption based on the 5 total punches dawson landed, not one being significant?

I think he did make his illogical conclusion based on that. For anyone to say how this fight would have gone after 1.5 feeler rounds is ******.

not to mention hopkins always starts slow. He was down the first four rounds against pascal in the first fight as well as the second fight.
