The doctor diagnosed him with a common shoulder injury. There are three grades to this injury. A grade 1 is a simple sprain. If Hopkins had a grade 3, which is an actual break, he would have never left the hospital that fast and it would require surgery to repair and months of rehab. Golden Boy never released the grade of the injury and I'm sure there's a reason for that.

You've obviously been around for a log time, but you have very few posts.

Post for 6 months straight in nsb and you become jaded real quick. I have to take breaks every couple of months. Everyone with almost no posts is pretty much automatically considered to be an alt/troll/idiot, along with the clowns with floyd or manny in their avi's.

Let me try and clarify, its not a fair comparison because living and opersting with a nagging injury is not the same thing as performing in an elite boximg prizefight seconds after said injury happens. Sure he MAY have been able to continue but why do so when it happened due to a foul and you would be at a severe disadvantage.

Its not like its a broken hand or jaw, I never fought through a broken hand but i did get my jaw broken in a real fight and kept fighting no problem. If i was unable to physically lift my shoulder at the time, it would have been much worse for me.

i think it was grade 2..........serious enough for medication & rehabilitation on the arm.............

According to Hopkins he said he "wanted to continue" to the referee. Not that he "couldn't continue".

Well, seems legit but I would still like to see the Report and X-Rays.

The problem with this injury is, unless it was dislocated during examination, an x-ray wouldn't show anything. All Hopkins has to do is say what he felt and the doctor bases his diagnosis on that. It's like if you say you have whiplash; an x-ray won't show it, the doctor will diagnose you with it based on the symptoms and pain you say you're feeling and he wouldn't be lying because he doesn't know you're faking.

Forget what golden boy says, and these "levels of injury" a LICENSED MEDICAL Dr. at LA hospital said he has an AC SEPARATION. . . Which is definitely A LOT more than just bruising or something. . . Definitely sounds serious enough for me. . . Here's a description of his injury:

The period of disability and discomfort ranges from a few days to 12 weeks depending on the severity of the separation. Disruption of the AC joint results in pain and instability in the entire shoulder and arm. The pain is most severe when the patient attempts overhead movements or tries to sleep on the affected side.

What is an AC joint separation?
An AC joint separation, often called a shoulder separation, is a dislocation of the clavicle from the acromion. This injury is usually caused by a blow to the shoulder, or a fall in which the individual lands directly on the shoulder or an outstretched arm. AC joint separations are most common in contact sports, such as football and hockey.
The severity of an acromioclavicular joint injury depends on which supporting structures are damaged, and the extent of that damage. Tearing of the acromioclavicular ligament alone is not a serious injury, but when the coracoclavicular ligaments are ruptured, the whole shoulder unit is involved, thus complicating the dislocation.

Simple AC injuries are classified in three grades ranging from a mild dislocation to a complete separation:
Grade I - A slight displacement of the joint. The acromioclavicular ligament may be stretched or partially torn. This is the most common type of injury to the AC joint.


I wouldn't expect any boxer to continue with an injury like this. . . it would just get worse and worse and ultimately result in some serious ****. . .
