He may have legitimately got hurt, but this time, nobody really wanted to believe him because of past instances. Its his own fault for building that type of reputation. Jim and Max were just talking about fighters and their reputations and how fights are judged based on those reputations.
Hopkins reputation is that of someone who tries to play mind games, tries to use dirty tactics, and tries to act injured when he wants to buy time.
