I think you have erred Mr. Donovan. Hopkins went out of the ring in his first fight with Robert Allen, I have the fight and it was, somehow, caused by Mills Lane breakng them up. it happened too suddenly to see exactly what caused it.
Against Echols his "separated" shoulder was abviously a fake, as all know. He stopped using it for one round and part of another, trying to entice Echols into making a suitable error, then began using it normally after. There were no 4 rounds with one hand situation. I also have this fight and particularly noted how he faked an injury. In one of their fights, I think the second one, he spun Echols around near a corner and blatantly rabbit punched in directly in the back of his neck. Echols dropped like a stone, and Hopkins should have been disqualified instantly. Very poor "blindsight" by the ref.
