hopkins forced the title from pascal in his hometown............

theres no excuse for a much younger martinez who should be able to fair much better with the change...........

great fighters dominate their opponents in front of their home crowds once or twice.............

Huh? Great fighters dominate their opponents once or twice in their home crowd? I've never heard that before.

Also, Martinez is 36 years old. He's not young. Just because Hopkins is a freak of nature and can compete well into his forties doesn't mean every fighter can do the same. Most fighters are washed up by the time they are 35. Don't assume every fighter can do what Hopkins can do.

He win a decision in the US and keep his title, or he can go to Russia, get robbed of decision most people thought he should of won.

Remember, Sergio had two questionable decisions on US soil. Cintron and Williams.
sergio is the undisputed middleweuight champ of the world and p4p number 3..........martinez wasn't p4p 3 when he fought willams & cintron. he was unknown, martinez will have neutral officials & a neutral ref. if martinez puts a beating on pirog he should get the victory in russia with no problems.......

yea but hopkins still had to fight twice to get the title from him in canada and pascal was the champ not hopkins and if i'm not mistaken sergio is considered the middlewight champ.so you feel like sergio should go fight in russia maybe get cheated have to complain about it to bring attention to it so hopefully in the rematch in russia they don't cheat him?
i understand what you are sayin and i'm not saying that sergio shouldn't fight pirog but at the same time sergio is a fighter who is not an all time great/ hall of famer so he may not get the respect as someone like a roy jones or hopkins would

Can you name a huge boxing event in Russia where a Visiting Boxer was cheated by the judges. I think Germany has some of it, but I am not aware of Russia. Could someone give me some fights that happened in Russia, that turned out to be a hometown event. Please enlighten me with some of your boxing knowledge

martinez is greater then he is now vs a few years back.........he's in his prime now. thats the point. regardless of his age...........i believe that a prime martinez should have no problems with outclassing pirog in russia (if he's as great as flaunted) look at vitali who dominated adamek in his home town. look at tarver who dominated green in his home town.........dude, call me old school but i don't baby fighters.

Doesn't make sense to respond until there's some negotiations with the Margarito/Cotto winner first. And even Angulo. Also, god knows what's going on with the Mayweather negotiations.

At the moment, the offer may be career high, but Martinez will probably have more options for his next fight that will pay more than his previous fights. From what I've heard in his interviews, Martinez isn't happy about fighting the Dzinziruks, the Pirogs, and the Andy Lees of boxing anymore. He wants a big name next.

I love this fight but you guy are crazy if you think it's happening in Russia.

There's about as much a chance of Pacquiao fighting in Africa. No way.
