  • Whats wrong with 850,000 buys?

I know its down on Floyds previous fights, but Ortiz isn't that well know outside of fight fans

    • the point is pacquiao is a draw regardless who he fights. maywethaer isnt a draw by himself, he need people to bring their fanbase in and people watching to see him lose. it isnt bad, but if he ever lose a fight he will draw lesser numbers than canelo and moralles who must have brought at least 200k in this payperview so legit mayweather numbers for this fight should be around 600k, ie if the projection is right.

I have been in touch with Richard Schaefer and HBO regularly. They simply do not have enough data yet from some huge systems to make an accurate report of the numbers. What people dont realize is that when numbers are announced they are done based on years of experience and extrapalation of numbers based on comparing fights to other similar fights and totals in certain markets. For whatever reason this fight has been harder than others. That said both Schaefer and HBO, without saying a specific number they do not have yet, both have told me that without question the fight is well over 1 million buys. The big question is how much over. They want to announce a number that they believe will be close enough to the real number and since it may be 1.3 or more and edge close to 2nd all-time non heavyweight they want to be right. By the same token, it could be 1.2 or 1.25 and not hit 1.3. They just want to be correct from what they both tell me. But the rumors and innuendo that it did poorly is just a load of crap.
So what is it really? 850K? 1.3M? Or just over 1M?

            • Did any of you actually take the time to go on twitter and read up about this and the context it was said in? Or are you just 99% *******s who want to find something negative and run with it...hell in the article (which only uses one tweet in an exchange of like 20) it says, "I've heard as low as 850..." That is the lowest end estimate of all estimates he has heard.

              Find lowest estimate we can.
Crow about Floyd isn't a draw.

                • There are no official numbers yet. We have this guy saying 850,000, we had fighthype saying 1.3 million, we had 2 other "sources" saying 1 million and 600,000.

There are NO OFFICIAL NUMBERS YET.

                  • imo if i was a prized fighter and my PPV made 850k buys especially in a recession and high PPV prices, i wouldnt ***** at all.

still caking at the end of the day and popular at that.

Neither is Clottey, yet Pac was able to pull in 700k buys with no 24/7 and unlike Floyd/Ortiz, a weak undercard.
