Lewis, and Byrd you mean. 2 Losses since 2000 is hard to claim he's the best. Claiming you're the best current HW fighter is like claiming you're the ****** with the highest IQ, you're still a ****** and Vitali still is only 1 champ in the Heavyweight division. He needs to unify, and at the very least take on some good competition before I'll give him any credibility as a great Heavyweight. And the clock is against him. -
Originally posted by dareyouI said that he has been the best as of the year 2000 even with his loss to Lewis.
Since 2000, Vitali is 0-2 against the top two fighters he's faced.
Aside from that, his most note worthy wins are over Larry Donald and Kirk Johnson.
That's not underrated in the least.
With the amount of acclaim that gets thrown at him since winning a vacated title against an old and out of shape Corrie Sanders and defending it once against Danny Williams, he's definatly OVER rated.
He's lost to the two best fighters he's faced, and has beat some average fighters.
Again, the frequent
"Well who could beat him now"
is a Nut Hugger favorite.
Asking a hypothetical question and acting like that proves your case in compairison to the critisisms I mentioned above is pretty weak.
We won't know who could beat him until he fights the best fighters avaialable. Sanders and Williams were fringe contenders, and Rahman isn't even top 5.
Vitali is one of four title holders at the moment, and still needs to prove himself before he's anywhere near deserving of the hype that currently surrounds him.Comment

I don't see him ducking anyone, unlike Byrd and Ruiz.

OOooooh, you got me. He was soooooo far ahead on the scorecards against Lewis. And I mean, it was clearly in the 12th round when the fight was stopped, it was in the bag.Originally posted by dareyouYes and out of both fights he came out to be the superior fighter

No, he QUIT on his stool agaisnt Byrd with an injury Holyfield sustained agasint Byrd in the 1st round and fought 11 more rounds. Vitali was ahead on the cards, and all he had to do was coast for 3 rounds, not even needing to throw a punch. Instead he gave up his title on his stool. A TKO LOSS in the truest sense.
Agaisnt Lewis, he made a good account of himself, but in the end, the plan to stand toe to toe with a bigger puncher resulted in his face being punched into hamurger.

The definition of a TKO loss.
This is all just tired recycled nut hugging.Comment

Yes, Vitali losing to Lewis and having his face re aranged sure validates your "best since 2000" point.

So in the last 23 months, Corrie Sanders and Danny Williams were all that was out there to fight?

Again, he hasn't beat anyone that warrents proclaiming him great or 'the best'.

Do we say Vitali looks like he could be great until he proves he's ****?
