If you say so. I agree with floyd on purse split and what he said about Jeremy Lin. That hardly counts as everything. I also think Pac hasn't used PED's, but you missed that. Even Deevel just said I agreed that the $40 mil offer was too low.

Again, believe whatever fits your agenda.

      • the double standard amazes me. When Cotto stated he cared about his family and the reason he took the knee people were bashing him. Now that May has clearly stated he will not take chances some how he's still the man.

No ones said its a bad thing??? Read the comments, sounds like everybody believes legacy is more important than health. As if soon as u become a boxer u have to accept getting pimped out my promoters and or fight with a style that puts an even higher risk on ur health. Just to have those same people to turn around and say ur a overrated bum!!! One or two loses and ur a washed up bum...I'd rather cash out too and let the keyboard warriors judge on $h!t they really don't know about!!!

Let's clarify something...taking a knee when ur in trouble is not as bad as people make it out to be...its actually pretty smart in some cases.

As far as Mayweather, because he don't move up in weight like people want doesn't mean anything, I can't remember the last time he's fought an actual slouch!!

Quick example of double standards...everyone is riding Salido, same guy that has like 10 loses right? But Baldomir has a great run, becomes Lineal champ, but because Floyd fights him Baldomirs record is more important than what he actually accomplished during that run.

OK...but if Pacquiao wasn't with Arum, do you honestly think he wouldn't accept a clean $40 Million...especially if Bob Arum wasn't with him to Suck his money away from him? Arum is the one wanting 50/50 because that is how Promoters make their money back and earn a profit

Boxing is no different then the Movie Industry and the Music Industry, you sign a studio deal and they give you your money to star in the movie, then they turn around and make Hundreds Of Millions sometimes BILLIONS of $$$, same thing in Boxing, the Promoter pays the fighter so much, but then turn around and make MUCH MORE off of PPV Buys, Merchandise, DVD's and a bunch of other stuff

I don't blame Mayweather, he Generates too much on his own, WITHOUT A PROMOTER, WITHOUT THE EXTRA POSITIVE MEDIA COVERAGE, WITHOUT BIG TIME ENDORSEMENTS to all of a sudden SHARE IT with Arum...AGAIN! Again that is where Self Preservation Comes In! He is talking about Financially...he is not OBLIGATED to give anybody 50/50...ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY THEMSELVES DON'T EVEN GET 50/50 FROM THEIR PROMOTER!!!

From a fans stand point yeah I think he should do a 50/50 Split...but from a BUSINESS STANDPOINT...NO HE SHOULD NOT SHARE ANYTHING! Especially if he been keeping % of his Profits since after the Oscar De La Hoya fight

              • the fact that this thread was made before the costas interview makes the thread better, ahead of its time, and more importantly vindicates and verify floyd's cowardice.

If your a fighter and is scared of health related issues in the sport of boxing. Gtfo of the sport. This sport is deadly. Only the brave and the risk takers survive. Fighting has beens and low risks fights are just pure milking gullible fan boys who wants to get ripped off..

But I like how Costas caught him off guard with: "You keep talking about your health, are you implying that you've got something to be afraid of against Manny". Maybe he should've left that talking point at home since Drug testing wasn't even a issue or topic of discussion.
Yup he says Ali was forced to fight at the end of his career Ali didn't want it. The fans did. IT'S LIKE SAYING I DON'T WANT TO FIGHT PAC IT'S THE FANS THAT ARE THE ONES WHO WANTS ME TO FIGHT HIM, BUT I HAVE TO WATCH MY HEALTH IT'S A DEADLY SPORT. which means he is scared of fighting pac no one will force him to fight pAC. He knows he is in a real fight if they meet in the ring.

"BOXING IS A DEADLY SPORT FIGHTING A LEGITIMATE THREAT I WILL NOT FIGHT"

Floyd quote: " I'm not fighting who fans wants me to fight look what happened to Ali" Translation: Pac is a legit threat, not fighting someone who can be a legit challenge. That's ******. It's self preservation baby!

Do us a favor tell your boy to retire. In any sport, an athlete wants to be the best and fight the best, if he is for the easy fights and pay checks he has no business in this sport or any sport.

As an athlete you owe yourself to prove yourself most especially if you have the skill to do it IF YOU CAN'T YOU HAVE NO BUSINESS IN THE RING.. THE BEST FIGHT THE BEST.

Everyone knows boxing is a dangerous sport. If you are a prize fighter, you risk your life every time you enter the ring. You risk it more if it's a dangerous fighter you are to fight with. The high risk type of fighter is what glory is all about.. Sadly your boy loves low risk fighters for easy pay checks.

                  • A lot of gaps in Floyd's answers that Costas could've pressed him on further, but Costas is a smooth customer. He knew had he kept pressing, it would've turned into something more heated, with Floyd probably berating him about not knowing anything about Boxing.

But I like how Costas caught him off guard with: "You keep talking about your health, are you implying that you've got something to be afraid of against Manny". Maybe he should've left that talking point at home since Drug testing wasn't even a issue or topic of discussion.

Floyd didn't choose boxing. Boxing was engraved into him by his father and uncle. In a combat sport, that's probably when self preservation is most important. You don't have a team in there with you. So it's important to think about your well being first and foremost.
