this list is ridiculous brother, floyd has his bullsht with him but these are just dumb arguments... none of these dudes are scared of eachoter its the managers and promoters who have ruined boxing!!! come on man
margarito - yes he is slow, but not slow enough for floyd who turned down 8 million to fight him.

cotto - yes floyd would probably wipe the floor with him. thats the point tho, he didnt.

mosley - iv not too much of a problem with that fight, he beat him when he was rated number 1.

pacquiao - well why is he so reluctant to get in the ring with him if he would destroy him?

pac fought mosley at nearley 40 also (after he lost and then looked terrible against mora), fought marg after he was suspended for a year for allegedly cheating then comes back n beats a guy who isnt even on wikipedia and gets a liscence from bob arum to fight pac for a championship???... he beat cotto which was somewhat legit but at a catchweight...
best in the world at welterweight. look it up

the same cotto arum said was to young for floyd??? okay floyd turned down 8mil vs marg and what did he recieve in return? more millions and a better named fighter right??? what would you have done took the 8???, arum would not give him the money he wanted and they had issues!! these are the things that kept these fights from happening not foyd being scared!!!

so you dont think bob arum has or had nothing to do with floyd not fighting pac, marg, or cotto (while he was with arum)??? you mean to tell me that you actually believe if arum wasnt around that all these fights would be made in a heart beat? these guys are not reluctant to fight eachother man they have been doing it all their lifes! maybe they have doubts but its all politicts and greedy promoters that have ruined boxing (i sound like a broken record im done)... sigh

He didn't face Berbick and Holmes because he was a warrior (which of course he was), he did so because financially he had been ****d by Arum and DOn King.

The statement was a silly way to justify his desire for getting a larger purse split. Your interpretation is just as ridiculous IMO.
Problem with your interpretation is, you're assuming what Floyd might have been referring to. Nowhere in that interview did Floyd mention anything about Berbick or Holmes. As a matter of fact, there was more a demand from the boxing world for his fights with Frazier than there was with the other 2 you mentioned.

My interpretation is from what exactly came out of Floyd's mouth. "Self preservation. I dont want to end up like Ali. He would give it all up to have his health". What part of his self preservation statement even hints at him referring to money or a larger purse?

as a true boxing fan how do u see floyd vs pac panning out?
I can only go by what has come out of Floyd's own mouth. He says Pac will be easy work and how he will whoop his a**, yet turns around and says that he must be on something because what he has accomplished is out of the norm. Floyd didnt ask for more intrusive testing until it came time to fight Pacquiao. Fine, testing is no longer an issue. Now Floyd doesnt want to share any of the ppv revenue with Pac. This will clearly block this fight from every happening. Pacquiao isnt a Victor Ortiz type opponent. Pac has sold more overall ppv's than Floyd himself yet Floyd doesnt want him to reap the benefits from all his hard work and success?

If Floyd isnt scared of fighting Pac, then he's damn sure doing a good job of preventing it from happening! Why not jump at the opportunity to make the most money you've ever made in your life against an opponent you've labled as "easy work"?

Now how do I see this fight panning out? It can go either way depending on which Pac shows up. If Pac comes in and fights the way he did against Oscar by showing and throwing punches from many angles, firing off quick combos, getting in and out, and firing that straight left down the middle, Floyd could have some serious problems. Now if Pac fights the way he did against JMM in his last fight, I see an easy UD for Floyd.

and i think you will find cotto was rated the number 1 welterweight when mayweather "retired". then margarito was rated the number 1 welterweight when he beat kneeguel.

and thats a cracking excuse that is, i cant fight you because i dont like your promoter!
That was for reference. Again, I'm just trying to accurately gauge your point: are you opposed to fighters that don't fight the best and criticize fighters that do that or are you opposed to floyd and irrationally criticize him and not others.

again you have a good knowledge of the sport so if you spin history to fit your argument thats on you. I just found it odd that you only mentioned TR guys as opponents mayweather allegedly ducked.

I'm not assuming anything. If you know boxing history, you know what fights Ali took late in his career for money. There was NO demand for him to fight Berbick or Holmes. SO for you to put those fights in the same breath as Frazier is simply ridiculous.

He would give it all up to have his health-the it is the focus, that being the money he made, especially late in his career, which is what Bob asked Floyd about, the money and the purse split.

Deevel you can interpret the statement the way you'd like. As for fear of manny, when the fight was all but made, manny backed out because of the OST request. If you take from that floyd is afraid, well then either you are ****** or you are a manny fan who feels a need to blame floyd solely. Either way its ok with me.

I'm not saying that it isnt a fact that Ali fought late in his career solely for money, but saying that that's what Floyd was referring to when he spoke of "self preservation" is pure speculation!

When Floyd spoke of money, he referred to all the hard work he's put in for him to give up any of the purse split. Funny how splitting the purse wasnt an issue up until now. If I can find it on my PC, I even have an article with direct quotes from Floyd and Ellerbe stating that the money split isnt an issue.

Just think of the definition of "Self preservation" and tell me what part of that has anything to do with finances or purse split? I posted it up for you a few posts ago.

                      self-pres·er·va·tion (slfprzr-vshn)
                      n.
                      1. Protection of oneself from harm or destruction.
                      2. The instinct for individual preservation; the innate desire to stay alive.

And for the record, when it came to testing, Pac never backed out. Both sides couldnt come to an agreement on a cutoff date therefore Pac moved on. Now that testing is no longer an issue, the new issue from Floyd is money split. Better yet, no split at all. Dont you see a pattern here?
