Floyd can't just say "Put someone like Roy Jones or Lennox in there to interview me," because they're great as analysts but to ask critical questions is different. Shit, you put Lampley in there to ask Floyd questions and he's going to be antagonistic.
Floyd's so used to being in control that when someone comes along and stops that, he lashes out.
Bernard Hopkins and Merchant used to have beef but Hopkins even had to admit that some of Merchant's criticisms were warranted.

look, even MMA fans don't like defensive fighters...
boxing is a sport and sport exists to entertain. now, fights where a lot of punches are thrown are exciting. fights were a lot of punches are not thrown are boring.
The epitome of boxing skills isn't to never get hit by your opponent. If you have the stamina and you get on your bike, you can do that indefinitely. The epitome of skill is to impose yourself on your opponent and that imposition is reflected on your ability to physically dismantle your opponent, preferably by KO.
Now, you can psychologically dismantle your opponent, by making them revisit a situation which they lost or feel hopeless or have fear. for example when cotto hit marg with his best shot and marg just kept coming. but marg's psychological dismantling of cotto ain't ***** unless it translates into a physical dismantling, aka cotto getting beaten and bloodied and eventually quitting.
You can dismantle you opponent mentally, by just outthinking them, setting traps, setting up your punches, counterpunching, not giving them anything to hit, etc... but that ain't ***** unless you also are physically dismantling them.
Your boxing skills ain't ***** unless you are beating up your opponent. if at the end of the fight, both boxers look fresh as ****in daisies, it means neither guy was able to impose himself on the other physically, and therefore it wasn't really a fight you saw but some bizarre sort of dancing.
BOTTOMLINE: IF YOUR SKILLS AREN'T TRANSLATING TO YOU BEATING THE **** OUT OF OPPONENT, YOUR SKILLS ARE WORTHLESS.
