In no other sport would a Commentator get a pass for attacking a effective respected style in whatever sport. If its not working, or isn't being implemented right, then sure you attack it and critique. But when its done right, you do not attack a well known and effective aspect of the sport.

well we all kno wat types of fighters larry merchant hates. hes not a very good commentator on the overall sport. ive never thought he was and i never will. if this was any other sport, he'd never get away with bashing one style of play. thats not called being an effective commentator.
