Cotto will break down why he got a new trainer when 24/7 airs. IMO I think this is a good move only because I think a person who speaks spanish would be best for Cotto. Sure Cotto's english has gotten better over the years but spanish is his first language and he will feel ALOT comfortable with a spanish speaking trainer.
I think that pedro Diaz is a good trainer but he has to prove if he really is a good professional boxing trainer, hes without the doubt a good amateur boxing trainer. Im a Solis fan and he said before the fight Solis is at the perfect weight to beat Vitali but why didnt his knee hold up? Yes Solis looked to have the right gameplan to beat Vitali but the injury stopped him. I only hope Solis gets serious now, gets lighter and comes back to dethrone the Klitschko-Sisters!
As for Cotto, i would like to know why he doesnt continue to work with Steward? What does Cotto think about it and what does Steward think about it? At the beginning i thought Steward is not the right guy for Cotto but he looked slightly better since hes trained by him. Diaz could be another good choice, they speak the same language and maybe fit better together on a mental standpoint but i dont know if this is a good move by Cotto or not, its without a doubt a risky move before a big fight like this.
Cotto was not impressive with Steward against Mayorga. Got tagged a few times. He needs to be the best aerobic condition for this fight in case Margarito lands a good punch on him. If he is not motivated, the fight is gonna get real interesting. We know Margarito seems somewhat "shot" and will keep coming forward SLOWLY. But without a decent Plan A/B to motivate Cotto, it would be really interesting. I hope Cotto does not take light of this fight.
