I used an English-Spanish translator on the net(which sucks) and it seems like the fight is signed and confirmed but no date and place has been set.

well barrera is still signed to fight chavez according to boxrec,
no mention of an opponent yet for barrios although hes got a date
pencilled in on the same day as barrera-chavez. could happen as i
heard barrera wasnt likely to go ahead with his fight with chavez.

The fight between barrios and barrera has not been signed and you got to remember that the article was back in october 2005. Maybe barrera said no to barrios and instead wants chavez.
