Pacquiao ducked Ortiz because he was too dangerous.....
1.) Ortiz laid hands on Manny, and gave him " his best sparring session ever "
2.) Ortiz beat a guy who was on Manny's own shortlist
3.) Ortiz was ranked #3, and Manny has never fought a welter ranked that high

I cannot see your point-of-view at all my friend.

You badly under-rate Ortiz, most likely because of the Maidana debacle, whereas I think that Ortiz has matured, is finally fighting at a healthy weight, and is a much better fighter at welter.

Pity that he never got to solidify his position at 147, but I got him beating Berto again.

The third best welter on the planet Ortiz, was certainly a more credible opponent for Mayweather than the JWW champ Bradley is for Pacquiao, even accounting for Tim's great run at 140.

Fighting at your best weight is badly under-rated on this site

Ortiz is a welter, no question, Bradley could be.
I can agree May had really no other options, and I'm not blaming him for fighting Ortiz..But like you said he did not solidify his position to me,and that's mainly because Berto did not solidify his position..If Ortiz fought at least a fighter like Mike Jones at least I could give him more credit..As it stands right at this moment,I think he is a bit of smoking mirrors..He still has time to make some noise, but he does not want to fight Berto,he does not want to fight anybody but Pac or May which is very short sided imo...

But Romey, Berto was on Pacquiao's short-list.

Not only was he on Pacquiao's short-list, he was the best option.

1.) Mosley = old, faded, could no longer pull the trigger
        2.) JMM = a lightweight
        3.) Berto = current #3 welter

How come the guy who beat Pac's best option is " not solid enough " for May?

Those are the same double-standards that caused Mayweather to be bashed for beating a Mosley who was ranked the #1 welter (when EVERYBODY was saying that no way would Floyd get in the ring with Shane, and after Manny had ducked him TWICE), and yet Manny to be praised for beating Shane after it was obvious that he was old, shot, and could no longer pull the trigger.

I would love to see a Berto rematch, that was a good fight

There now appears to be a gap at welter between Manny/Floyd. and the rest.

I am not convinced that gap existed back when Cotto was prime, and back when Shane was #1..... it may have existed, but we will never know for sure because Pac would not fight Cotto at 147, Pac would not fight Shane back when he was the #1, and Pac would not fight Ortiz back when he was coming off a great win and ranked #3.

Hey I'm a fan of both Pac and May,so I really don't want to bash either..Ortiz just really pissed me off, with the headbutting..It was intentional and was so wack,I felt bad for May in that fight..It seemed as if that was a part of his plan because he knew it was his only shot to be dirty..IMO Bradley is a better fighter then Ortiz therefor why I feel he is the better fight for either..Not bad mouthing either fighter tho cause I like umm both,I know you can't stand Pac tho lol...

Pac vs JMM >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Pac vs Ortiz or even May vs Ortiz.

Money-wise, Pac vs Mosley >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> vs Ortiz.

                Absolutely.

My problem is, and I am not advocating headbutting, just playing devils advocate.....

How the *** do you beat one of the most well-rounded fighters in the history of the game?

Personally, I think you would need to bring some serious pressure, and a game-plan that will not allow Mayweather to settle. Lets face it, if Mayweather is dictating the pace and controlling the fight, then you are in for a long day at the office.

I expected butts, and more, but not ridiculous blatant hands-by-your-side, headbutts..... I pictured Vic punching behind Mayweathers head and following through..... Ortiz lost it, his inexperience showed in that fight unfortunately.

Again, not advocating butts, I have copped a couple of nasty ones myself..... but this is the hurt game, winning is paramount, that was a title fight, and a certain amount of professionalism, gamesmanship, call it what you will..... is to be expected.

Many trainers have instructed their guy to go low.
