Juan Carlos Salgado (24-1-1, 16KOs), who recently won a twelve round decision over Argenis Mendez to capture the WBA's super featherweight title, is considering a possible move in weight to challenge Jorge Linares (31-1-, 20KOs) for the WBC lightweight title - if Linares beats Antonio DeMarco for the vacant belt on October 15th in Los Angeles. In October 2009, Salgado stunned the boxing world with a first round knockout of Linares.

He should be thinking of avenging his only loss against Uchiyama.

Should be a good one. Salgado caught him flush in the first fight. Not saying it was a total fluke and it can't happen again, but a rematch should make for a good fight and Linares has every chance to avenge his loss.

I wonder if this guy has a problem making weight? He seems to gas at the end of important fights. He gassed against Uchiyama and Mendez. Either way, I'd like to see a rematch if Linares beats DeMarco. The first fight doesn't really prove much (although it is a legitimate win and no one can question it). Anybody can get caught on the temple and lose their equilibrium, which can take a while to recover from. We'll see what happens.
