There is a very good chance Cotto stops Margarito because of Margarito's eye but he shold not go looking for a KO. The gameplan should be about going 12 rounds and winning round by round fighting all 3 minutes. Cotto will land the flashy and eye catching punches because of his speed so winning rounds won't be a problem. Cotto should use his jab as the first option and use it to set up the hook to the body followed by the right hand. He should put pressure on Margarito and stay out of the ropes because you can't go on the ropes and move backwards against a high volume puncher.

Cotto will win and if the oppurtunity to take Margarito out comes he will finish him.

i think manny steward and cotto will be able to make more adjustment than garcia and tony( not a knock on tony and garcia i just think manny and cotto are a ltte smarter)

and nither is shot IMO they r just a little past prime

Cotto took an ever worse beating and hasn't looked sharp at all to me recently. I don't think Margs looked shot vs pac, but i thought cotto was borderline shot vs foreman.

its not like cotto's been mad active and looking like cotto of 147. i also think margs carries 154 a lot better than cotto. cotto's arms are short and he looks like a small jmw to me. margs still looks big at jmw.

Awesome avy. Secondly, I agree, I think Margs will carry his power better than Cotto at 154. Cotto just looks too small, he can probably still make 147...but I really wouldn't know. I'm not sure who wins this, Margarito has been inactive for what will be over a year and for a fighter coming off a pretty bad loss, that's not a good look...and still I do think Margarito trains very hard and will be prepared come fight night. I really haven't made a pick yet, I'm neither here nor there...but if even the Margarito that fought Pac shows up, I think this fight will be quite entertaining.

I would argue both fighters are damaged goods. Cotto hasn't looked that good since the beatdown from Manny (look how carefully Top Rank have matched him since then) and I reckon Margarito will be the same. His eye socket was destroyed, he's not going to want to take heavy damage like that again. Or maybe the adrenaline will take over and we'll see a war but somehow I expect Cotto to be a lot more tactical this time out.

but the thing is that all that time-off between fights, in this case, helps Margz more than it hurts him.

Maybe but I don't think so. Margarito starts late in fights as it is. If he has ring rust he may take some time to get into a rhythm. If and its a big If, he isn't the same ironed chin guy we are used to seeing it could spell disaster. If he had some type of fight in between this and the Pac fight maybe I would feel different.

Cotto took a worst beating against Pacquiao than Margarito? WTF? Cotto was fighting 6 months later Margarito face needed surgery. Coto looked shot vs Foreman? Didn't he KO the guy? Didn't he win almost every round against a natural 154 pounder? I suggest you watch every Cotto fight since the first Margarito fight and every fight of Margarito since the Cotto fight and tell me who looks sharp.

i thought both cotto and margs looked sharp thefirst couple rds vs pac, but pac is a completely different guy than either of those two. its not like margs chin gave out vs pac, its not like he got put on his ass a bunch.

Both guys are damaged goods but I beleive that Cotto may win this fight based on the condition of Margaritos eye. But note, Pacquiao hurt Margarito with straight left hands to the body, nearly put him down with it.
Cotto loves that left hook liver shot, and if he can get that going he will win, its really simple Cotto lost the first fight because he had the wrong game plan, you do not go in reverse when you have a truck comming straight at ya...
You step around the way both Mosley and Pac did you do not need the entire ring thats what led to Cotto fading, if he turns Margarito and punches before Margarito resets his feet he will beat him to the punch every time and stop him in the mid to late rounds which is what I think the game plan will be
