    Sauerland card Oct 1: Cunningham-Hernandez, Sylvester-Proksa, Murat-Campillo

Usually there's only one competitive matchup on a boxing card these days.

But on this Sauerland card next week in Germany, we'll have THREE.

    What are your predictions?

My predictions are: wins by Proksa, Hernandez and Campillo.

It's an interesting boxing card, because it's a good opportunity for lesser known fighters like Proksa and Hernandez to move up the ranks in their respective divisions.

      Sure, I'll take that bet.

We're going to see if Proksa is for real, major step up for him here.

          Yes.

If he beats Sylvester, then it will mean he's a bona fide middleweight contender.

This might be a card that is flying somewhat under the radar which is a damn shame.

Cunningham-Hernandez should be a great fight between 2 of the 3 best in the division. The real question is how much Cunningham has left. Inactivity might be catching up with him against the flashy cuban. Hernandez has his flaws for sure with a questionable chin and a heart that might not belong at the elite-level.

If Hernandez gets his combinations going from the start we could see the upset. I think I favour Cunningham to survive what might be a rough start, to grind Hernandez down and stop him before round 10.

That is a good card, I always want to see Campillo do well as he was blatantly robbed against Shumenov and had his title stolen from him.

Good observation, but I think people really overrate Hernandez. Huck, Cunningham, Lebedev and Wlodarczyk are all better than him, unsure about Afolabi, Guillermo Jones at this point of his career (does he actually still have an active one?) and a few others, but yeah he is right in the top 10 cruiserweights. I just don't think he will ever fulfill the high hopes Sauerland had in him and climb the very top of the division. This is all about how much Cunningham has left (and I believe it is more than enough, the guy is always in tremendous shape).
Hernandez has matured a lot and I liked his stoppage win over Herelius, but I agree on the question marks you mentioned.

Sylvester versus Proksa should be a good one. I've never seen Proksa fight, but read and heard a lot of good things about him, so I expect an entertaining and competitive combat here.

Murat versus Campillo is another good one, although I'd slightly favour Karo Murat, especially with home advantage.

Could well turn out to the best fight card of the night, and that says a lot with Nishioka-R.Marquez and Roman Gonzalez - Omar Soto in Las Vegas...

When I made my post I thought of Cunningham and Huck as being no1 and 2. I forgot about Lebedev so thanks for reminding me. He should be above Hernandez.

I havent seen Proksa either. Sylvester always comes to fight and he is hittable. He might be a bit ringworn though. I look forward to that as well, but not as much as Cunningham-Hernandez.

Yeah, Sylvester is the type of fighter who will age quickly in the coming years, but I think he'll be fine right now just having turned 31, didn't look too shabby either against Geale, Geale was simply the better fighter. I made a bet on him (only points here, no money) purely on speculation that Proksa might be good, but has not been anywhere near a top ten middleweight yet.
