Do You Think Canelo/Chavez Jr Next Year Is A Real Possibility? Vote!

They've been talking about this fight a lot, and after Chavez Jr couldn't even make the weight to defend his title, Arum has to know that Chavez is not going to become any sort of long-running star, despite the interest attached to his name. He barely even pulled out the SD against tiny Sebastian Zbik.

Wouldn't Top Rank much rather lose Chavez Jr in a PPV cash in against Canelo than have him be upset by a Ronald Hears/Manfredo jr or destroyed by Martinez on regular TV?

I know GBP and TR aren't working together, but Oscar has shown a real interest in this fight, and Uncle Bob knows that making at least one PPV cash-in with Chavez is better than none.

On the other hand, Arum is a stubborn mother****er.

So, do you think this fight will happen?

Then again, he could feed him to Pacquiao, would would allow the Pacman his 9th division world title at 160 Don't put it past him!

    @ pacquiao capturing a 9th title.
naw, i think it's a possibility. and top rank and gbp are working together again, gamboa/ponce de leon was the first fight together in a while. also, there was an official boxingscene article stating schaefer and arum were going to meet this week to discuss the possibility of this. only thing team alvarez is unsure about is the catchweight. chavez jr can barely make 160, and they want a catchweight of 156. only way i don't see it happening. besides that, if everything is good it can happen. both guys seem like they're not ready for the top opposition in their respective divisions, so why not cash in on this big hyped up undefeated clash?

here's some articles, if you missed them or something.

Edison Reynoso, the manager of WBC junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, said a possible fight with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., in March of 2012, is pure speculation. Recently, Chavez's promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank disclosed that he's negotiating with Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions, and trying to make the fight for March 2012 in Las Vegas. Chavez, the WBC champion at 160, would face Alvarez at a catch-weight of 158-pounds, says Arum.

Chepo Reynoso, manager of WBC 154-pound champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, arrived in Mexico City. He was mobbed with questions pertaining to a super-fight with WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Their respective promoters, Top Rank and Golden Boy Promotions, are discussing the potential fight, but Reynoso still doubts the possibility of the fight actually happening, because Chavez will have a very hard time getting down in weight.

The question is: is it relevant?

Honestly who cares? It should be a FNF mainevent as both are just unproven prospects even if they have make believe world titles.
