Edison Reynoso, the manager of WBC junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, said a possible fight with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., in March of 2012, is pure speculation. Recently, Chavez's promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank disclosed that he's negotiating with Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions, and trying to make the fight for March 2012 in Las Vegas. Chavez, the WBC champion at 160, would face Alvarez at a catch-weight of 158-pounds, says Arum.

"These are pure rumors and speculation. We just arrived in Los Angeles and we've had no conversations with Golden Boy Promotions for that fight. We do the negotiations personally. On the the second week of October, we plan to meet with [Golden Boy President] Oscar de la Hoya [to discuss the next fight]. Chavez is not in our plans at the moment. For the coming year we can make that fight, but we also have other opponents in mind, like a possible fight with Miguel Cotto in May, or someone like Shane Mosley," Reynoso said.
