For Mosley and Ortiz

Do you think Floyd had it in the contract for both to wear Grant gloves? May have just been a coincidence with both,but both did wear Cleyto Reyes in their bouts before facing Mayweather.

Shane had Grant in his next fight after Mayweather.

Yeah i know i'm thinking maybe Mosley preferred grant from then on,Marquez wore Reyes but he was a little guy moving up 2 divisions,and Reyes and other mexican gloves are known to have more padding around the wrist area than the striking part.

Im pretty sure it's in the contract. Boxing is a business, i bet you the contracts to sign fights are a pretty long process where both parties have to agree to everything.

it isnt like "hey, i wanna fight you next saturday" "okay, lets do it"

Im sure theres **** like catch-weights, gloves, ring size, rehydration clauses...its all money and its in the contract.

well at the end of the day if both fighters wear the same gloves it's an even playing field,but i think a boxer is entitled to choose any type of legal gloves as he wishes.

Doesnt matter. Floyd was the only guy landing in both fights. If anything, Floyd wouldve stopped Shane with Reyes, and probably stopped Ortiz before the controversy or a couple of rounds later. His eye was already busted

I think it has been established before that Mosley chose those gloves himself but with Ortiz its hard to tell because Ortiz might have to concede a lot to get that fight, so i wouldnt be surprise if ortiz was made to wear grant.

But with Mosley wearing Reyes do you think the 2 big punches he landed in the 2nd round would have been even more effective? Me personally i think the outcomes would be no different and agree floyd would have stopped Ortiz anyway,I think the main reason Floyd wears Grant is to protect his hands more.

To be honest it doesn't make sense that he was made! as why would Oscar want him to wear gloves known for more power if he didn't want to? I think Mayweather seen it as "oh i might aswell wear them if you are" sort of scenario.

Mayweather does have brittle hands, Grant gloves seem to have more cushion. Maybe DLH knew that. Also, I think Mayweather made Ortiz and Mosley wear Grants that were 10oz right? They didn't look 8ozs at all. So I'm sure Mayweather has an advantage making fighters wear his gloves. He has fist protection, his opposition has gloves that will reduce the sting of their punches more, and the fact their not familiar to wearing those gloves in the firstplace

Crazy thing is when Pac May were first talking a contract, Mayweather agreed the glove sizes to 8oz and Reyes too. I really believe he wanted/wants that fight. Huge money involved.
