For me, I gotta go with how he handled Soto vs Lorenzo. The way he DQ'd Soto for a glazing blow after a brutal beat down dished out by Soto was a thing of beauty. Not only did he DQ him, the way he let poor Lorenzo leek blood all over the canvas for over 10 minutes without medical attention while his nose was literally on the side of his cheek as Cortez tried desperately to figure out what to do, that was pure genius.






Post your favorite Cortez moment and fight. He's a legend. A hall of famer. An all time great. And remember: he's fair but he's firm!

Joe Cortez is the worst, If I was a fighter I would specifically ask for him not to be the referee. He messed up countless fights, they Mayweather vs Hatton fight comes to mind especially.

I remember bernard hopkins demanded that cortez not ref one (or two) of his fights. He was denied.
