arce is one of my hero's! love his performance against vazquez - no matter what happens from here on out, that was a perfect way to cap-off his career. . .

i got the chance to meet, shake hands, and get a picture with tommy hearns. . .

yo, are you chad dawson's trainer?

He did sign his hat from the International boxing hall of fame and gave it to me though. I've met stars from other sports and most of them act like they're to good to be bothered. Most fighters,or people in the fight game aren't like that from my experience.

                    100%

                    boxers love attention.

unlike other sports you're likely to be completely unknown at the begginning of your career, unless you are ray leonard.
guys in basketball and baseball and football to a lesser degree have had people telling them they are the greatest thing going since sliced bread from the time they hit puberty.

most boxers labor in complete obscurity for years before they make it to the top, often making very little money.
when they get to the top they appreciate it more, because of the way they are brought up in the sport.

and i also think lots of it has to do with the fans
boxing fans (not the ones on the internet, but paying fans in the building) are very respectful and appreciative of the fighters and the work they do
real boxing fans are some of the most loyal on the planet, especially regional ones.

and to answer the OP i met ray borque when i was in a hockey shop in my youth

                    he was in his prime.
early 90's. he was built like a refrigerator. no joke, he and a refrigerator share identical dimensions.

i didnt understand how a man could have that much muscle and not look fat.

i was with my father. we were on the way out and he was on the way in. he said "hello" and waved to us right away and i think he held the door. this was a long time ago. early 90's.

for you guys who dont know who ray borque is he's the best defenseman to ever play hockey not named bobby orr

for years he was also the best shot in the league. played on a terrific bruins team in the 90's with hall of famers adam oats and the baddest man in the league cam neely. ever seen "dumb and dummer?" cam neely is "seabass."

he played i believe it was 18 seasons with the bruins (who drafted him)
he famously took off his number 7 jersey when it was retired for espizito and became number 77. one of the classiest gestures you will ever see.

and then he was traded to the avalanche and won the cup for the first time and retired.

in the 90's he was a legitimate star. the most famous athlete i've ever met.

I just saw you met Arce kind of amazing. One day when I get rich I will move out of Michigan and be able to meet more. Boxing is almost dead here, Mexicans and some other Latin Americans keeping it alive few prospects from The D I read about but not much.
