        you are an idiot

To even make a statement saying that JC Chavez was overated just shows your ignorance and hate as a fan of boxing. It's safe to say that you were one of those that never gave Chavez a chance to make it "big time" during his carreer.
The fact is, he did make it big time. He is considered as a legend and one of the best in his era and in boxing.
Think about it, I hate to pull the race card here, but had Chavez been a White American and had accomplished what he had. He would have been bigger than Ali, Leonard, Hearns, anyone!! You know why? Because during Chavez's era times were different. Mexicans fighters received minimal exposure. Today they are getting mass credited for their talent.
Their were many great Mexican champions during the 70's 80's and 90's. Chavez was the best of them. But because the limelight was on what was produced in the US. and Chavez being Mexican and never learning the English language and American way hurt his Marketabilty, but were talking about boxing here( the sweet science) and not Nationalism.
Today we have Morales, Barrerra, Castillo, Delahoya, Marquez, Lariois ect. getting paid big $$$, PPV, acknowledgement as great warriors and as some of the best in boxing today. JC CHAVEZ was better than any of them. He beat the best fighters in his era with a his style that would just cause opponents great pain and damage. There hasn't been a fighter today, that has accomplished what Chavez has. 89-0 at one point of his carreer? Beating Current/future Hall of Famers as Edwin Rosario, Jose Luis Ramirez, Roger Mayweather, and other champions Mario Martinez, Rocky Lockridge, Juan Laporte, Meldrick Taylor, Greg Haugen, Hector Camacho, Frankie Mitchell, Tony Lopez, Joey Gamache, Frankie Randall ect all is un heard of today.
So I ask. How could anyone question his Legendary status?
        Let me guess?
you'll try and find a reason to dicredit El Grand Campion Mexicano

Chavez is not underrated. When you're considered one of the greatest 20 or so fighters to ever step in the ring you aren't underrated. It's debatable where his exact position is, but he's far from UNDERrated.

Again, he's considered one of the greatest fighters ever, and every other Mexican fighter is "measured" against him (as stated). How is he UNDERrated? Maybe some people like to criticize him, or his record, but by no means is he underrated. People who know boxing generally agree he's one of the all-time greats.

My Karma is going to go down again for this, but, as much as I think chavez is an all time great, I also think some ppl overrate him, by looking at his padded and helped record. Still I don't care about them, and the ones who say he is just a brawler (even worse). I just shut my ears to those idiots and watch him fighting taylor or rosario.

As I already wrote in the past he is overrated like marciano, louis, ali, figures who have become mytical, to the point in which hardcore fans just cannot think objectively about them

With all due respect to JCC, I wouldn't ever mention his ring record as one of the points supporting his 'legend status'.
Hardly anyone would have heard of any of the guys he fought in his first 50, and many of the guys after that were simply padding for his record.
So 89-0 is deceptive. Yes he fought & beat some great fighters, but he may as well have been 2000-0 for the first 3 or 4 years of his career.

Frankie Randall beat his ass twice and got screwed on time. towards the end Chavez became a dirty fighter, elbowing low blows hitting the hips, plus he got lotsa help from the refs and the judges. Taking nothing away from him early on, the, thats when he was great.
