After watching and studying loads of videos of Roberto Duran i realised he threw his right hand differently that the average straight right cross. It wasnt a straight punch it was kind of arched and he rarely threw a straight right he always threw it with the bend in his arm. Can anyone explain how he threw this punch, it isnt a looping right hand totally either. can anybody tell me there thought on this and how he throws this punch? I noticed with alot of knockout specialist that they all throw this very punch very similar, Julio cesar chavez is another, Sugar Ray Robison even used to throw it.

You mean the chopping right hand? Like Mayorga throws. It's allows more torque & allows you to bring your shoulder into play more. Turn your hand over for maximum power. -
Mayorga does throw a punch similar, but durans look like to connect more with the knuckle where as mayorga look abit like slaps, even tho they have been effective for him. Durans right hands are a thing of beauty and when i looked on alot of fighters who have very good knock out records, alot of them threw it the same way. If you study how duran throws his right hand you will see what i mean. One of the best fighters that ever lived!Comment
