I can understand how you came to that conclusion if you were illiterate. However, if you can read then why not read the entire article instead of reading the headline only?

Is it legal to gesture the boxers to start the fight before telling the timer to time in?
This fight should be declared a NC.

You guys are funny. Joe Cortez DID say "Lets go" and also did the hand gesture for them to resume fighting. The only thing Cortez did wrong was looked the other way while signaling them to resume and Ortiz was wrong for keeping his hands down and trying to hug and apologize to Mayweather again. Floyd was in his right to deck Ortiz, that's why the punch was/is legal. Ortiz just wanted out of the fight plain and simple. Who gets punched in their face and doesn't do anything, then gets punched again? I did not see the will that Ortiz had in the Berto fight. whether it was fair of Floyd to do so or not is a matter of opinion. I for one wish he would have waited for Cortez to look back to them because I'm sure Ortiz would have found a way to get out of there. Dude got frustrated in the 4th round?

After Ortiz used his head, intentionally, on Mayweather, Cortez took Ortiz to the center of the ring and took away a point. Ortiz, looking to apologize, walked over to give Mayweather a hug, and within a split moment Mayweather would land two punches on a defenseless Ortiz to score a knockout. During video replays, Cortez was shown looking at the timekeeper's table and stating "time in."

Wtf! he admitted he didn't say fight. He just made a signal? The best and right thing is to say it out loud and say fight. The louder the better so that no confusion happens. Retire Cortez pls.

He says he never said "box". If you have to be that nit-picky, then yes, he didn't. Instead, he said "Let's go" and thereafter waved them in.

I'll bet that you have the fight on your hard drive. Watch it again.

Hand gestures are just as good as verbal commands.
If it was that good than I don't think Cortez would be looking somewhere else.

Cortez should be banned from boxing. He loves this kind of scripts.

Dude Cortez just said he never instructed them to fight. That's why he was looking at the time keeper.

As he says in the article, he did gesture for both to start fighting. I thought it was pretty obvious, Floyd thought it was obvious too since he walked forward with his gloves up. Ortiz is the only one who didn't get it.

Not that I'm saying Cortez isn't sh**. He definitley doesn't seem capable of refereeing a championship fight effectively anymore.
