"Where was Pacquiao in 1996-2001 when I was dominating the game?" PBF

    Mayweather
1996 - pro debut for Mayweather age 19
    1998 - WBC Super Featherweight title 130lbs age 21
    2001 - fights Corrales 130lbs age 24

    Pacquiao
1995 - pro debut for Pacquiao age 16
    1998 - WBC Flyweight title 112lbs age 19
    2001 - IBF/WBO Super Bantamweight titles 120lbs age 22

    To answer Mayweather's question:

Pacquiao was becoming a 2 weight world champion 1996 to 2001. Mayweather was becoming a 1 weight world champion. They both won their first world title in the same year. Pacquiao was a world champion 2 years younger than Mayweather.

Where was Pacquiao? 2 weight divisions below you.

...and yet hardly anyone had ever heard of him until he fought and beat fighters faster and 'more convincingly' than Mayweather did, which is his point. No one was calling for Mayweather, the #1 P4P fighter at the time, to fight Pacquiao until he beat De La Hoya. He certainly hadn't been getting many PPV buys.

Its pretty undisputable that Top Ranks strategy for the past few years is to beat fighters more convincingly than Mayweather did. Freddie Roach himself said as much before they fought Mosley, which was someone he was, on camera, quoted as saying he didn't want Pacquiao to go up against.

Doesn't really matter if Pac was playing cricket 10-15 years ago, what the **** does that got to do with anything?

Just another random BS line that Floyd throws around when he really should answer the questions he's faced with.

You won some fights, but dominating you was not! The lower weights attract less attention so even though Pac was doing things and winning, he escaped the radar because he wasnt american.

WTH? Only shallow American ignorant non-fans hadn't heard of Pacquiao until he stepped up to 140-147lbs to fight Hatton (the first common Mayweather victim).

              Let's see...

2003, he beat Barrera at 125lbs.
2004, drew with Marquez at 125lbs in fight of the year.
2005, lost to Morales in his first fight at 130lbs
2006, beat Morales twice at 130lbs
2007, beat Solis, Barrera at 130lbs
2008, beat Marquez at 130lbs, Diaz at 135lbs

Anybody who knew anything about boxing has known about Pacquiao at least since his fights with the ring legends Barrera, Marquez, and Morales.

Of course, you don't sound particularly knowledgeable to me if you've only heard of Pacquiao since he moved up to 140-147lbs.

I really respect/like Mayweather as a fighter. But he can't just make stuff up and except it to be accepted as the truth when it is the opposite of reality.

The first Marquez fight was a headliner at the MGM grand and the first Barrera fight was (IIRC) on the undercard of the Tyson Lewis fight. Real fans have known about Pacquiao for a loooooong time.

This is fairly absurd. Pac may not have been well known in 2001, but by 2003 and 04, he had roughly reached Mayweather's level of drawing power. They were both hardcore draws looking to get into the mainstream. Oscar put both over the top a little more than a year apart but think about it what fights were happening when and how big they were.

Amen to that. Most boxing enthusiasts and passing fans realize pac arrived on the scene when he beat Barrera. But Pac did a lot before that as well, which cant just be discounted just because Floyd didnt know about him and didnt do research.

If you asked FLoyd who the current flyweight champ is, he wouldnt be able to tell you. Especially if he is Philpino.
