    Mayweather. Tekken. Street Fighter

    Hey guys,

I'm not really a big poster here, but I do check the boards often. I just felt that I should share something with you all that I see and was wondering if anyone else could relate.

This is for the heads that somewhat understand and compete in fighting games such as Tekken and Street Fighter (3rd strike specifically) . Does anyone else see the comparison to some of these high level matches and when Mayweather fights. I see so many of the same concepts and engagement principles, spacing techniques of some of these players that I see when Mayweather fights. Truly amazed at his skills. I'd wonder how well he'd do if he ever got into playing fighting games given enough time. They are doing the same exact things.

For all of you guys that know who he is, I'd like to say that Mayweather and Kuroda are one in the same. They are both on a level that not alot of people really understand yet.

          ^^^

          All jokes aside...

Fighting games (the good ones anyway) have many of the same concepts and advanced concepts you'd probably find in real life (sans the over-the-top combos and fireballs).

Street Fighter is more footsies, poking, hit-confirming, etc.

Tekken is more side-stepping (there's another name for when you're side-step cancelling), wavedashing, just frames, etc.

Fighting games are unfortunately a niche business and there are only a handful of players that really dedicate the time to perfect the games. I admit it that I always look forward to the EVO competitions and have been watching them for years now.

Different players are known for their different strengths. Some players are good at playing turtle styles (defensive), some are known for excellent rushdown technique (offensive), some are incredibly good at comebacks (clutch), and others are more known for their unpredictability and entertainment value outside the game (Juicebox's antics when he plays SSF4AE).

tekken maybe, street fighter sucks you can never stay on the inside because when you hit(or attacks or blocked) you slide back a sht load

tekken is beast with teh jabs to get your opponent to open up only to then pull back to avoid the income and counter

Your nerdy-ness in NSB amuses me.

So I will now watch Daigo's comeback clip in youtube for the Nth time.

Well, it SHOULD be like that because if you don't slide back, you can stay there on the offensive and leave your opponent stuck in block stun or taking hits.

For example, in Mortal Kombat I, if you got your opponent stuck against the wall and he wasn't blocking, you could just mash the hell out of HP (high punch) over and over again and your opponent would NOT be able to do absolutely anything about it.

He'd just stay there taking punch after punch after punch after punch after punch. Didn't matter if he had 45% or 95% health, he was losing that round/match.
