I usually don't mind Merchant but he could had conducted the interview in a better way to get what he wanted to get out.

He wouldn't even let Floyd thank the fans for comming or buying the event and went right into the sucker punch. Instead of asking Floyd what happened in there in his point of view and then counterpoint on it he just was leading the whole interview to his satisfaction or agenda.

In the end Ortiz started the whole chain of events

Floyd was upset with how the fight ended; he did nothing illegal, but I think he regretted doing it...as he clearly would have beat Ortiz for a while longer and got his deserved credit. Merchant used the opportunity to rile Floyd, but Floyd should have kept his cool. End of day, Floyd did nothing illegal, and he didn't need to be sporting after he got butted. Standard.

To be frank Merchant is a disgrace to boxing, i dont give a toss if he is politcally correct or not, the man is a racist fool, There are thousands of people who can do his job twice over, and they would come across articulate and better than this old fool who comes across like a racist, bitter fool.

He has been doing this over and over again with different boxers, He need to learn how to be professional and keep his vile opinion to himself when interviewing a boxer who has just finish fighting after 3 months of training camp, the man is low class in my opinion.

So utterly hysterical and ridiculous, name some of the thousands of people who could do his job better? Look at the response on this forum alone, Larry may be from another generation but he is still a big part of why I download the HBO coverage, compared with the abject **** we have over here in the guise of John Rawlings and co.

Mike I think was the only fighter to have Larry Merchant petrified. I remember when Mike Tyson came over to get interviewed Larry Merchant bounced until Tyson was out.
