  • Ortiz's own fault

Cortez clearly brought both fighters to the middle of the ring and did the arm/hand motion which signifies that the fight is now on. Also while he was doing this he clearly said, "lets go." I definitely heard it, I don't know how any of you skeptics didn't. Although I'm not 100% sure why Cortez was looking outside the ring considering he just resumed the fight. But all in all, Cortez is right it was Ortiz's inexperience that cost him the fight. Mayweather really taught him a lesson on several levels... even the most basic one which I was told from the first boxing lesson I ever had, "protect yourself at all times!"

Zab didn't stand there with his hands down like a dumba** either.

      • Cortez was completely backward. You don't order the fighters to fight, then divert your attention to the time keepers. he was supposed to call time in, then tell the fighters to fight. Do the fighters start fighting before the bell to begin the round,no. Do you tell the fighters fight, then adress the time keepers, no.

That's exactly right. It was a sucker shot and Floyd is a sorry bast*rd any way you slice it. He knew it was a dirty foul and that's why he made up a way to get offended even though Merchant didn't say even the slightest disrespectful thing to Money other than not letting him use the interview time for advertisement.

                • bottom line is that floyd knew ortiz wasnt ready and took advantages over it. plain and simple! nothing wrong in what floyd did but he took advantages over an unaware guy thats it. nobody is saying floyd cheated, etc.

                    • Everybody even somewhat knowledgeable about boxing was hugely concerned when Cortez was given the assignment and with damn good reason.

He is so incompetent it's staggering, really.
