Joe Cortez should have retired about 10 years ago. He's made so many bad mistakes in recent bouts that he's become an embarrassment to the sport. He's too slow, gets in the way of the fighters, and most importantly as we saw last night, doesn't even watch the frikkin fight!

I thought Mayweather looked good but nobody can argue with the fact he won with a very cheap shot. If Cortez had control of the fight it wouldn't have happened, or at least not controversially.

Get rid of Cortez before he ruins someone's career! Maybe get Larry Merchant to fight him in a career ending match? Winner carries on....loser has to retire! I'd buy the PPV for that!

i've been saying the same thing for years about cortez, i am hypercritical of the guy because HE HAS RUINED CAREERS!!!! with his incompetence, i was critical of him before the soto fight, even hopkins as called him out for being shady and biased...... but after the soto fight i've been on a crusade to have the guy removed from the sport, he's a cancer and i personally think he's just an inside man who's there to maneuver fights in certain directions for who i don't know, but just look at what he does and have done, and look at the betting lines as well as if someone placed a bet on certain rounds...!?!?!

Ortiz of course is in no position to criticize MW for not playing fair -- and look at the tape -- they DID break and then Floyd hit him once hard and Ortiz mystifyingly looked at the ref and then Mayweather delivered the KO punch -- what was Mayweather supposed to do, just stand there and watch? -- my guess is that Ortiz had become so discumbobuted by his being deducted a point for head butting after being hit all night at will by MW that he totally lost his composure at that point -- this so-called 'controvery' really is an excuse for Mayweather haters to continue their hating -- imagine if the roles had been reversed -- that it was MW who blantantly head butted Oritiz and that it was then Ortiz who KOed MW in the same way -- the same people who were booing and are bad mouthing MW would have been cheering their asses off for their hero Ortiz and dancing in the streets in celebration

Floyd is a fighter thats trained his whole life to punch people , ref says fight and thats what a fighter does , Floyd did what he is trained to do , Ortiz is the dirty fighter in this because he threw his head from the first round and then lined up a bar brawl head butt which started the whole KO scenario , that butt had bad intentions and could have opened Floyds face up like a knife job .

The people bagging Floyd and turning a blind eye to the whole head throwing deal are nothing but low life haters that will never give Floyd any credit for anything , well guys he showed how great he is right up to the stoppage and was on his way to total beatdown and a Hatton type stoppage , Ortiz was dominated in every way .
