  • all i gotta say is this, i am now a pacquiao fan after this fight and i actually think he can beat mayweather. Ortiz was landing clean, hard shots and pacquiao is quicker than ortiz.

also, ref never called time in so the clock wasnt technically moving. and ortiz is an idiot for not even protesting it or making it a big deal. He was actually doing really well against floyd.

    • Floyd may have all the money in the world but it cant buy you respect!! You know you have respect when you walk down the street and everyone applauds you instead of getting yelled at being told you're a ducker. You have respect when you're in an interview on national tv telling you deserve all the merits insteadof getting criticized for who you get in the ring with. Sorry mayweather but you ain't never getting respect only from your hardcore fans. You can keep walking with your head down..........smh

Cortez's only mistake might have been that he didn't instruct Mayweather not to retaliate.

Funny thing is, Mayweather did the exact same thing to Mosley, difference was Mosley kept his hands up and took the shots well.

In the end, all of use as boxing fans know what the # 1 rule is; Protect yourself at all times, Ortiz ****ed up, knew it & got what he deserved.

As well as Ortiz might have been doing, wether he would have been able to keep it up all night is questionable, I think Mayweather would have broken him down eventually. I'm not against a rematch though.
I don't think Ortiz was landing that many clean shots however I think the punches that he did land where because Floyd was being aggressive. Floyd IMO was REALLY looking for a KO. He was way more aggressive than he was in other fights. He really wanted to make a statement. As much as I am against a rematch. The public might demand it because

          A. It was actually an exciting "Mayweather fight".
          B. People feel Ortiz was wronged.

If the demand (money) is there it might happen, but I don't think it should happen. Its either Pac at 147 or move up to 154.

No! because I have been in real fights and in real fights you don't keep your hands down AND in boxing you always keep your guard up and on point, ESPECIALLY when the referee says "LETS GO". Do I wish Floyd would have waited to beat up Victor a lil more to make the fight more entertaining? SURE but Ortiz went down that road. He dished it out but couldn't take it. You guys are funny talking about "What Floyd did was wrong or right?" If it was wrong then it would have been illegal but it wasn't. I think what Ortiz did was more in the wrong than what Floyd did. ALSO Ortiz wasn't knocked out because dude was still on his elbows with his eyes open. He just didn't want to get up because he found his out.

IF Ortiz was really landing on Mayweather like you say then he would NEVER threw the frustrated head butt and cheap punch. He tried to hurt Floyd to take him off his game because he couldn't hurt him boxing. You bet on Pac if you like. I'm here willing to bet all my points on that one with you that Floyd beats Pac up. Nuff said.

"Time was in," Cortez said. "The fighter needed to keep his guard up. Mayweather did nothing illegal."

                    • Floyd Mayweather Jr., who had dominated the first three rounds, looked brilliant in his first fight in 16 months, but that brilliance may be overshadowed by the way he scored a stunning knockout with one second left in the fourth round Saturday night to win a welterweight title at the MGM Grand Garden Arena - Dan Rafael
