I disappointed in everyone one this site that claims to be a boxing fan you should know these rules
1. When a ref calls or signal a fight that is all needed to fight
2.How are you a boxing fan and still cant remember to protect yourself at ALL TIMES NO MATTER WHAt
3.A boxer is warned ahead of point deductions unless its a clear and intentional headbutt
if you are a true boxing fan you know these rules no matter what happens, Cortez signaled to continue and Floyd Took advantage no where in the book does it say he has to be paying attention or set to fight when the ref says to fight.Call it whatever you want but what he did is legal.Ortiz should not get a warning when it was clear that he wanted to headbutt him.Half you cry bout spending money when you buy things in your house that just sit thereComment

Bingo! Ortiz attempted to headbutt Mayweather on multiple occasions throughout the fight. It seemed to be part of the gameplan, beyond roughing Mayweather up on the ropes and in the clinches.
This is an important note -- the apology after which Mayweather clocked Ortiz was an additional apology after the initial apology, point deduction, and recommencement of the fight.
The first part of this post is important for those who confused by the immediate deduction. You simply cannot launch body, head first, into an opponent's jaw (splitting his lip in two places) and expect to receive a warning. Otherwise, that would be the obvious first play in every boxing match. The worst that could happen is you get a warning.
The second part of this point is important as well, because, at worst, this is what happened. Ortiz was perhaps not aware that the fight had been restarted because Cortez did a ****ty job of communicating this fact. Mayweather knew, though.
Agreed. To my mind, that rant against Merchant was long overdue.
Oh no? Then, who was it?
What's great is that, despite the overwhelming hate for Mayweather among so many boxing fans and media, Mayweather is not being universally panned for this outcome. The facts of the incident trump the hate. **** on Mayweather as if Ortiz did not intentionally headbutt him. **** on Mayweather as if everyone involved in the fight did not agree that the fight had been restarted, and Ortiz ****ed up by keeping his guard down so that he could apologize once more. **** on Mayweather if you like, but Ortiz got what he deserved considering his actions prior to the KO.
Basically...
Agreed.Comment

When the first punch hit, you can see that Ortiz was looking at Cortez as if he was expecting that that should be illegal, plus he was off guard and taking a punch like that would definitely shock you. of course he will just be standing in front of fmj cause he is shook from that cheap shot. deny all you want, yet no one can deny that that was cheap.Comment
