Maybe, but it was still a cheap shot.

Ortiz opened the door for the dirty stuff, and he failed to protect himself at all times, but Mayweather knew that he wasnt engaging when he threw both of those punches.

The hook was a deserved cheap shot, the right was an undeserved dirty shot.

I can't blame Mayweather, I can't blame Cortez. First one has to blame Victor Ortiz himself. Without him overreaching the whole apology/trying to hug Mayweather, this would have never happened.

Why are fighters trying to hug Floyd so much after they foul him? Shane did the same and paid for it. Just be aggressive, and stop *****footing around. You came in there to WIN, TO BEAT FLOYD. Why do you have to apologize to him? You got a point deducted, move on, stay focused.

Its simple. Boxing, on HBO especially, has turned into what the younger generation of fans have asked for,

WWF (or WWE if you prefer), theatrics. With 24/7 build ups to the fight, to choking an opponent at the weigh in, to head butts, to sucker punching when the ref isn't looking, to getting into a verbal altercation with the interviewer,

boxing has gone from an actual sport, to Sports Entertainment. HBO is making a mockery of a once great sport. We have fighters openly ducking fighters for various reasons, fighters making unsubstantiated claims against fighters they don't want to face, and we have fighters refusing to make the fights the fans want to see.

I agree. Mayweather was a straight up punk. was ortiz wrong for not protectin himself - of course; and even more wrong for his head but - yes. But Mayweather showed no sportsmanship. and what makes it worse was that the fight was starting to get exciting and go the way i thought.. I thuoght mayweather wud pull it out, but thought it wud be a very tough fight, and ir was becoming that.

Who gives a **** about the heat butt? It was dealt with when Cortez took a point away. Cortez needs to go, WTF was he looking at, it wasn't at the fighters. Ortiz was looking to the ref for instruction and thought something was up, after a point was taken away, then captain Tyler Perry decides to get in a quick cheat. I don't care what anyone says, Ortiz should have protected himself, but Mayweather is a 34 year old professional, what he did was take a mole hill and turn it into a mountain. Don't let anyone tell you that Mayweather had this fight in the bag. In all likelihood he would have won, but Ortiz was in this fight.
