frazier was a good inside fighter and most of the time he used hooks to get inside. actually most insider fighters are/were as far as i know. like i said jab is a good setup punch for everything so it helps of course. you clearly misunderstood me because i was reacting to that one guy who said you can't fight inside without a jab.Comment

A jab can be used as an attacking opening gambit. It makes the opponent either retreat, or cover up. If he tries to catch his with his rightor deflect it, he may move it out of psition and leave himself open to a double-triple jab or a right cross. Either way, he may be put off his game and you have the chance to step in close and work your arms and shoulders to get inside his arms, then you have the body at your mercy, for as long as you can stay there.
That's what a lot of the "inside wrestling" is all about. To see who can get his elbows and arms INSIDE the opponent's and then..........
And that's all a part of the skill of infighting, and also why a ref like Joe Cortez is such a menace and obstruction to an infighter, or short body puncher.Comment

Frazier could not jab and used hooks to get inside as you say, because in a childhood accident his left arm was broken and reset a bit crooked. This is why the left hook was his natural left hand punch.frazier was a good inside fighter and most of the time he used hooks to get inside. actually most insider fighters are/were as far as i know. like i said jab is a good setup punch for everything so it helps of course. you clearly misunderstood me because i was reacting to that one guy who said you can't fight inside without a jab.Comment

I think we can all agree on this one. Of course the jab can be used to get inside. More than likely there will be a right cross followed by that jab tho.Comment
