Show's your knowledge of boxing...Jabbing creates distance and is a key for long range punches and lateral movement. Ortiz will have to faint, weave, and slip his way on the inside keeping his hands up. If Ortiz is on the inside and Mayweather pulls back Ortiz should go for a right hook and forget about a straight left cuz he'll just get countered with a right...They got this in the bag...Comment

Garcia says Ortiz will pressure Mayweather while remaining alert to danger. "We got to be ready for his counter. He's pretty fast and his best punch is the counter. We're going to get inside. If we have to move, we move. If Victor goes inside, Floyd can't counter-punch on the inside. He can in the middle distance or the outside. Inside, that's our fight. He's got problems, because Victor hits hard with the upper-cut, with short hooks. That's our best chance. He says that he's not going to run, that he's going to stay in front of Victor. How can he stay in front of Victor and not get hurt? He's going to feel Victor's punches and he's going to have to run. He likes to run. He never stays in front of an opponent. If he shows his back, we're going to hit him on his back, because that's his fault. The ref should know that if he turns his back, the punches are still coming."
Danny Garcia said his fighter will not make the mistake of showing Floyd Mayweather 'too much respect' in Las Vegas
Good plan or not?
Still not enough though.Comment

the jab is the most basic and important punch in boxing for a reason
it can be used for many purposes, to create distance and keep the opponent at bay or get closer and inside with some back up
walking in without punching is dangerousComment

Mike Tyson used to do this when he was still trained by Cus. Although he used a combination of head movement and jabbing.Comment

i'm not saying inside fighters doesn't use jab all throughout the fight but when it's time to get inside you don't stretch out your arms for a jab to close the gap. what you saw is a fighter trying to jab his opponent who is trying to get inside...they may end up fighting inside but it's not the jabber who initiated the inside fighting, it's his opponent.Comment
