Comments Thread For: Third Shot No Charm: Jhonny Gonzalez Defends Easy

For the third time in four contests, 32-year old Tanzanian Rogers Mtagwa (27-15-3, 19 KO) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania fell short in a bid for a major title belt. Across the ring, 30-year old WBC Featherweight titlist Jhonny Gonzalez (50-7, 44 KO) of Mexico City, Mexico, celebrated his birthday, and the coming Mexican Independence Day, in style at the County Coliseum in El Paso, Texas on Thursday night. Gonzalez had plenty to celebrate after a devastating performance, scorching Mtagwa for a second round stoppage.

Props to Jhonny for blasting him in two rounds...

I would really love to see him against Chris John...

Chris needs to stop fight bums...

      Mtagwa is a mini Miranda
guy just gonna keep getting shots and getting KO'd
thought he might be back after the Juanma fight
but he's blown his other chances
      whatever happened to Hasegawa?
wouldn't mind a rematch with him and Gonzalez
guy might have a bad chin, maybe he just got caught cold again

And Gamboa says there's nothing else for him to prove at 126, Specially after beating what's left of Ponce De Leon. I'm not sure, but just maybe He's moving up to avoid the real challenges at featherweight because He's not tall enough for the 130s.
I like to see Jhonny vs Gamboa.

Gamboa vs Gonzalez would be a good fight on the undercard to Cotto vs Margarito doubt this happens though it's to much of a good fight not to be a main event.

Whats left of Ponce De Leon? That dude is far from a shot fighter.
Good for Gonzalez on the victory.
