Bad news for Ortiz! Floyd just hired someone to allow his dirty tricks against Ortiz. History showed he didn't allow Hatton to use his tricks against Floyd but allowed Floyd to do his dirty tricks against Hatton.

Aggressive fighters are in a disavantage with Cortez in there. He doesn't let the fight flow and likes to get to involve like ppl are paying to see him.

He could had let the Hatton/Floyd and the Khan/Maidana fight flow but he was always a factor in the fight.

You can go as far back as in Whitaker/Chavez to see his bad habits. Its beyond me how he gets to be in the big fights at this stage in his career

ortiz ability to keep his hands free is what i've been pointing to as the determining factor in this fight

with cortez refereeing (especially if he pulls a khan-maidana type job) ortiz doesn't stand an icebergs chance in hell

I see Floyd Mayweather has his personal referee, Joe Cortez, working the fight on Saturday.

I remember Cortez was very unfair to Ricky Hatton. He deducted a point from Ricky for nothing, he prevented the shorter-armed Hatton from fighting in close, and he allowed Mayweather to use his elbows on Ricky's face.

So it looks like Victor Ortiz will have the disadvantage of having a second man against him in the ring.
