I mean it was very possible. His eye would have fallen out of his socket. Lewis was tagging it up.
Is that a fact, or a qualified medical opinion ?

      It's a hyperbole opinion.

If it was a fact, I would use "fact"

      • I have no idea who would have won the rematch.

All I know is it would have been a helluva fight that would have been very close.

Both Lennox and Vitali are two of the most talent HW's I have ever seen an the freak eye injury (caused by Lennox's thumb) robbed us of a classic bout.

        • Now it is common to consider Lennox Lewis as a "great" boxer and to share the dubious idiom of the decline in the heavyweight. But is it really so? Or is this just the stereotype and the lack of independent thinking?

Technical lose to Lewis is hardly can be called a defeat, rather confluence of unfortunate circumstances. Lewis' nose was broken and he had difficulty breathing. If the referee did'nt stop that fight due to Vitali's cuts, 7th round would be the last for the British.

          • When you knock a guy out you win. Thats how boxing works. When you get knocked out the cards aren't counted. Why do people have such a problem with this very important part of boxings rules?

When you punch a guy in the face to the point where he can no longer fight you win. I think its a good rule myself.

Why would Lennox rematch a guy that couldn't last half the fght with him ?

Nah bro, if you got legitimately cut so bad that the fight had to be stopped, then you lost, plain and simple.

I agree with you 100%, you are factually correct, but ya cant help wondering what would have happened had Vitali not been so badly cut?

NOTE: I am not saying that I cant help wondering what would have happened had the referee not stopped the fight, because he had to stop the fight, but just wondering what would have happened had the cuts not occurred, or not been severe enough to cause a premature stoppage.

That coulda been a special fight.

                • And if Ray Leonard was there, Pac and Floyd wouldn't be the face of boxing.

Pointless comments by Floyd. Everyone besides a handful of ******s realize Lennox is greater than the klitschkos. But at the same time, Lennox is one of the best heavyweights of all time.

I'd bet on Vitali every fight at even odds if he fought THAT version of Lennox.
A prime lennox, thats entirely different.

When it comes to the tiring debate of Lennox vs Vitali, what did happen and what could have happened i just think both sides are being ****** for no reason.

                  1) Lennox won. It wasn't luck, and theres no way of knowing if Vitali could have kept it up had he not been cut.

                  2) A massive cut of that proportion is a high variance outcome. Theres quite a few random factors involved. It is not as simple as "Lennox threw the punch, therefore it was intended".

                  Lennox won.

It was a far removed from prime lennox (though obv not shot).

Vitali showed he could be competitive with THAT version of lennox and no one in their right mind can say Vitali wouldn't have a great shot to beat THAT lennox in a rematch.

                  • I agree with Floyd here. If people think that makes me racist, xenophobic, a Klitschko hater, whatever...I'll learn to live with it.

It makes you a realist. But It's also like saying blue is a color. Completely pointless statement.
