I never understood why Dana is so disliked by many boxing fans? Dana himself is a big boxing fan and has said so on several occasions. He just criticizes the way the sport of boxing is currently being run, and he's been pretty spot on. He hasnt said anything about boxing that you just didnt say regarding them constantly dropping the ball.
Boxing needs to align themselves with the FOX network!

This is sad but true. He had every opportunity to get a similar deal with CBS but why do that when you can milk more money from fans with endless PPVs? Velasquez-Dos Santos was originally slated to be PPV, but as a treat to their loyal fans, the UFC moved it to FREE showing on FOX. Can anyone imagine Arum passing on a Pacquiao or even Cotto fight on PPV and instead showing it for free on CBS?
Yeah, boxers in general make much more guaranteed money than UFC fighters, but even if a guy like Pacquiao can't logistically fight on CBS for free, you still have a TON of fighters on your roster who can. But there's no such thing as too much money for an 80 year old hundred millionaire it seems. If it were up to Bob, every fight would be PPV

Thats b.s. if cbs wanted fights on their air bob would jump all over it. cbs simply doesn't want to waste their airtime on a irrelevant sport (besides floyd and pac) like boxing.Comment

@ the bolded.. It's cause the truth hurt. A lot of boxing people catch feelings about that. They believe that MMA, not only the UFC, was a flash in the pan and would soon be forgotten. But this guy takes his brand overseas to Europe, Brazil and even up north to Canada for fight cards. He builds his fighters up, has pretty good match-making and uses things like Versus and Fox to help maintain the popularity. Don't get me wrong, the guy is classless at times but he speaks his mind and hardly ever sugarcoats ****. Him and Zuffa are doing something right, cause the UFC brand is only going to get bigger after November 12Comment

I'd have to agree with CBS not wanting to invest in boxing right now. If they saw it as a good investment, a network would have surely jumped all over it right now.Comment

And they're not promoting some crappy fight neither, it's freakin' Cain VS Dos Santos!! Can you imagine a boxing fight of that caliber being broadcasted on network television? Hell no! Boxing promoters are too greedy and don't give a damn if they run the sport into the ground as long as they're still making money right now. Not too sound like a horrible person but in order for boxing to prosper, Bob Arum must die and Top Rank must either fall apart or merge with Golden Boy.
There's plenty of fighters that would be perfect for network tv and bring back the sport to it's glory days. Have fighters like Gamboa, Angulo, Froch, Donaire, Cotto, Margarito, Russell, Canelo, fight at least once a year on network television with an occasional Floyd or Pacquiao bout (I'm reaching here) and boxing is back.Comment

I see it like this. UFC fans are some happy fans! Dana ensures that the fights are suppose to happen do happen for the most part. No cherry picking who you would like to fight. LOL. Its either you fight or get stripped and have to start from scratch now. If it wasnt for the fact that I was a boxing fan since I was 7yrs old, I would not have been one if I started watching it within the past few yrs. Politics, money, and greed have ruined this sport.@ the bolded.. It's cause the truth hurt. A lot of boxing people catch feelings about that. Not true at all...
Les Moonves, the president and CEO of CBS Corp., was hosting Top Rank officials Bob Arum and Todd duBoef at a dinner in New York in late January when he spoke words that may ultimately change the course of boxing in the United States.
The meal came only a few days after Top Rank had closed a deal with CBS and Showtime to distribute and help it promote its May 7 pay-per-view bout between Manny Pacquiao and Shane Mosley, which will be held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Top Rank’s decision to move to CBS/Showtime and away from HBO Pay-Per-View, which had dominated the industry for the last dozen years or so, sent shockwaves reverberating throughout the boxing industry.
Moonves looked at Arum and duBoef and, referring to the May 7 pay-per-view card, said, “We’ll make this work.” And then, in words that boxing fans in the U.S. have been dying to hear for more than two decades, he added, “I want you guys to figure out how to help me get boxing back [on network television] on Saturday night.”
It isn't quite live boxing's network return, but the promotion for Pacquiao-Mosley is outside the box.
But HBO offers big fees and PPV makes more money than free TV, so it's business as usual. And as long as that happens, Boxing will sink further and further into niche and obscurity especially when Pacquiao retires for good. Meanwhile the UFC will be sitting pretty alongside the NFL on FOX.Comment
