Zab achieved a lot by most people's standards, I hate to call a two-division world champ a waste of talent, but that is what he was.
Pernell was mad hyped in Judah's fight against Khan. You just knew he wanted to take Judah's place.

Pea was a great boxer but he's not a good trainer. Funny how he, and you, think that just because he was great back in the day as a fighter then he would automatically be good as a trainer. That's not how it works. Just listen to the recent interviews Pernell has been giving. He talks more about himself than Zab and even said in post fight interviews that "Zab ain't no Pernell".

His ego, his dependency on coke and what not has made this guy a joke. He should work with Zab's attributes. Not trying to force his own "dancing" and mindset on Zab. Work with Zab's talent - not alter it completely or work against it.

This guy is even training all his fighters to fight the way he did at his gym in ******ia. Different people, different styles. You can't teach everyone to fight like you, Pea. Give it a rest you bigheaded clown.

He has nothing left to give this sport at an elite level. Just leave it alone.

"dumb trainer"?...You're the man responsible for your sons technical, tactical and mental flaws Joel. Perhaps you should have taught your son better in the first place, then maybe, just maybe, Zab could have gotten out of the way of Kostya's right hand. LOL!

Absolutely right. A trainer can not train all his pupils the same way, if he does that hes no good trainer. A trainer that can only train one style is no good.

The Zab of old was the same as Zab of now. In fact Judah's wins over Mabuza and Matthysse were his best since 2005.

Whitaker is probably not the greatest trainer, but he and Judah have similar styles and I'm sure Pernell had a lot to teach him. Back in the day Judah was even called a Whitaker with punching power. Unfortunately he was no Whitaker.

At 33 years of age, going on 34, I'd seriously advise him to consider retirement. All of the best have beaten him and he is a mere stepping stone.

i still think they are a good match - a trainer can only do so much - it's up to the fighter to "read and react" in the ring.

                    good comments.

yeah "zab ain't no pernell" so why try to make him one? zab is a zab, which ain't too bad at all, few things need changing and improving here and there but why try to make him into something he's not cut out for?

Zab should retire, period -- or resign himself to becoming a gatekeeper type
