Not surprising, Pacquiao's popularity has EXPLODED the last year+. He's everywhere from CBS, to Comedy Central, to big time commercials, and top 10 music charts. You saw the turn out for his international tour- 80,000+ people cramming squares just to get a glimpse of him. Not a surprise that the tickets sold out 2 months in advance, the PPV will exceed 1.4 million buys easily. Bookmark that if you want.

No real buzz for May-Ortiz on the other hand and they made a big deal about the Time Warner 'assets' that were unprecedented. Haven't seen **** besides 24/7 replays scheduled for midnight on CNN and some cable bills with an advirtisement on the return envelope. 900K buys tops, and that would be a big accomplishment for this card, nothing to be ashamed of at all.

What are the ticket prices for these two events?

I don't think the Mayweather-Ortiz tickets are very affordable. People rather pay $50+ bucks to watch it at home and this will show once the PPV numbers are out.

Mayweather-Ortiz tickets (went on sale July 8th): Tickets priced at $1,250, $1,000, $600, $300 and $150, not including applicable service charges

                Pacquiao-Marquez tickets (went on sale July 22th): tickets to Pacquiao-Marquez III, priced at $1,200, $900, $600, $400, and $200

So they are virtually the same price, but the ones that went on sale later for a fight 2 months away are sold out. Go figure.

LOL...I will bump this post after the numbers come out.
Haha, please do. This fight doesn't even have as much hype or push as Mayweather-Hatton and that did 850K buys. The press conferences were just Floyd, his bodyguards and the fighters' extended families

Don't know why you think this is going to do big numbers (relatively). 900K is a nice haul for everyone involved. But for the life of me I can't figure out why some here are thinking 1.7-2 million buys is possible for this fight. What indicates, besides poor ticket sales and limited exposure, that this fight will crack 1 million buys?

embarassing that 1 week before the fight there are still tickets available while pacquiao-marquez, 2 months away is sold out.
He is the cash cow. He makes more than any current boxer and his ppv numbers are higher . That =cash cow.
