How do you rate tysons ko victory over larry holmes ?

People dont give tyson the credit he deserves for this fight imo.people say holmes was shot yet 4 years later he beat an undefeated ray mercer handily then 6 months later gave a prime holyfield hell for 12 rounds, plus the fact he is the only man to ko holmes.
Holmes's jaw was granite,he took the best shavers had and got back to his feet.
If only tyson didnt lose his head, and the people around him who kept him in check.the man was a perfect fighting machine in his rooney days

Very highly. Holmes was never stopped before or since, and went on to fight at a world class level for another decade. He was far from past it when Tyson fought him.

      definatly a very good one...

he won that one before holmes got in the ring cuase he was running and trying to survive...

lary was past prime but still a very skilled fighter

      berry good...

Over a 39 year old Holmes who hadn't fought in 2 years?

Having a great chin is not always about not going down, but rather how you respond when you do go down. Because of this, Larry Holmes deserves special consideration for all the monster shots he sponged up without going down, and more importantly for the monster shots that did drop him but failed to keep him down. Ernie Shavers and Renaldo Snipes both dropped Holmes with HARD shots and Larry got up like nothing happened and went on to win those fights by KO. Shots like the ones that decked Holmes would knock out inferior chins. Larry had a rock solid jaw.

It took all of a prime Mike Tyson to finally cut him down, and keep him there.

It's definitely one of the fights that really proves Tyson's punching power if you ask me. He knocked Holmes flat out with a single right hand, albeit after knocking him down with similar punches. Considering Holmes went on to fight Mercer, McCall and Holyfield well into his forties without going down, that's a damned impressive feat.

Holmes was past his prime, but still a good win.

A black American getting beat by another black American. Of course he's going to get all the credit unlike others.

Calzaghe fighting Eubank, Jones, and Hopkins....they are over the hill and no credit for him.

That's just one of the examples.

                    Eubank is an englishman.

Hopkins and esp. Jones were considered past it long before Calzaghe fought em.
