Alot of people who dont really know much about boxing always underrate Chavez's defense and his head movement just because he liked to come forward and attack you.

Chavez was an amazing fighter. Watch his fight against Rosario, he was amazing in his prime and just brutal.

His defense was subtle. Even when he won his first title against Martinez, he lay on the ropes like a veteran, slipped shots and countered. Never seemed flustered, always calm and patient.

JCC had excellent head movement. I wouldn't say he tops him, but Joe Frazier had excellent defense as well.

nice video, shows that you can be ultra aggressive and still have amazing defense unlike today's premier aggressive fighter

Chavez had solid head and upper body movement. He slipped blows well and rolled with them too.

His skill level was very high.

People just have a tendency to underrate the skills of aggressive pressure fighters and overrate those who are fast and dance around the ring a lot.

and many have the misconception that ALL mex fighters lead with their head and block with their head too..........take one to give 3 defense........well obviously not ALL
