Sturm is indeed fighting Masoe for the WBA Middleweight title, but Taylor ain't vacating his...he's the "WBA Super Champion", same with Zab Judah. It's weird and ******, but the WBA is probably the worst alphabet organization so that explains it.

Yeah I have read a little about that super champion ****....all these sanctioning bodies blow....hopefully someday we will have a reasonable way of making champions universal throughout each division.

yes when a WBA champ wins another title, he is then elevate to super champ, and then the wba creates a regular champ belt...........meaning that, it is pathetic.

luis collazo also has the same belt because zab has other belts....

Hopkins had to fight Joppy because Joppy was the "WBA Middleweight Champion" even though Hopkins was the WBA "Super Champion". Whatever. It's the WBA's way of getting the "Super Champion" (Jermain Taylor) to eventually have to fight a guy of their choosing.

How is that any different than just making him fight a mandatory?

It isn't. But here's something crazy, if the WBA champion beat the WBA Super Champion would he be the unified WBA & WBA Super Champion?

He had to in order to fight Hopkins again.

The IBF wanted him to fight Sam Soliman instead.
