Comments Thread For: Chagaev Plans To Return Before The End of 2011

The former WBA world heavyweight champion Ruslan Chagaev (27-2-1, 17 KOs) is planning to return before the end of the year. Two weeks ago in Germany, Chagaev suffered a twelve round unanimous decision loss to undefeated Alexander Povetkin. Chagaev took the fight after a long layoff and wants to stay very busy to sharpen his skills.

if chagaev continues to box he will be limited to where he can fight. chagaev has never been the same since he returned from the achilles injury.he completely missed lots of his punches vs povetkin.he's too slow now & his hand speed is not what it was before.he can beat the meehans but any other contender will beat this guy.

Part of the reason why Povetkin and co. even mustered enough courage to get in the ring with Chagaev was because he looked terrible in his previous bout and was never the same fighter he once was. Chagaev in his physical prime would run through Povetkin.

If he wants to be a stepping stone by all means continue but go for the paydays while you still can

He has never been good to begin with. Might as well retire.

too be honest i have all of chagaevs fights almost & i personally think he really only had 2 good fights. after he beat valuev he never did anything else.he made 2 embarrassingly pathetic defences vs skelton & carl drumond.he lost the drumond fight but it was in germany so he got the nod.povetkin had one tough moment in the 6th but other then that he had little trouble.chagaev had a 2 fight run & those wins vs valuev & ruiz were good but who else has he beat? kali meehan?
