Good post...
Pacquiao's in and out footwork, combinations, stamina, and foot & hand speed is a nightmare for the high guard too though... It can take too long to transition from defense to offense from the high guard, but if someone has the ability to time and transition effectively, it's Jr. Still he won't be able to transition as seamlessly as people would want to believe.
Anyway, if people believe a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight would be a wipeout for either fighter, they need to wake the **** up...Two completely different fighters but I'd have to say Clottey's high guard > Floyds, however, Floyd's ability and willingness to actually turn those blocks to counters is completely different.

Exactly! Point is Floyd would be without his best defensive weapon which is the shoulder roll that just frustrates the hell out of opponents. He won't have that against Pac. And a high guard isn't exactly the best defense against Pac's offense because Pac can leave you in a shell before you can counter because of his footspeed.Comment

True, but it also puts him in the line of fire more often against an offensive juggernaut, who shoots powerful rapid fire combinations from different and awkward angles.Comment

And that plays right into Pac's strengths...he want's people to throw so he can take advantage of their openings.Comment

Yup! And if he did that.. the fight would definitely live up to the hype. If there's anyone that can stand and trade with Pacquiao at this time it's Floyd. He's the fastest/most accurate puncher in the game and one of the best of all time.. IMO. He can through fluid combinations with ease (used to atleast) However.. Pacquiao has the intangibles that he has displayed over the course of his career.. heart/will/determination (not saying Floyd lacks it)..Comment

he's never dominated a southpaw on Pacquiao's level. the southpaws he's fought were decent fighters, but not world caliber level like Manny or Ortiz. if there's one thing Mayweather is good at it's adjustments though, and it'll be interesting to see how he adjusts to both of them. not to say that it'll be his downfall but he will have problems with them, best believe that. he got rocked by Corley and his glove hit the canvas with Judah.Comment

he isnn't. but that's one less trick up his sleeve.Comment

Is this why victor's and manny's defense sucks? Are there or have there been any successful slick southpaws? Seems like if you're a southpaw you have to be an offensive boxer because your defensive options are limited. Just wondering.Comment
