Comments Thread For: Photos: Berto Defeats Zaveck, Biloxi Undercard Action

Biloxi, MS [Beau Rivage Resort & Casino] - Former champion Andre Berto (28-1, 21 KOs) flew out of the gate and overwhelmed IBF welterweight champion Jan Zaveck (31-2, 18 KOs), shutting his eye and forcing the ringside doctor to halt the bout in the fifth round. Berto returns for the first time since the loss to Victor Ortiz, and picks up the IBF title. Photos by Scott Foster.

"Bums"? It would of been a very tight match if there was no headbut, in fact, i believe that Zaveck would of won it in the later rounds. Berto was obviously gassed in the fifth round already and has barely been standing on his legs, after some clear punches by Zaveck. You should check Compubox stats and rewatch the match, if you think that Zaveck is a "bum".

Also, you should know that it is Zaveck who wanted Berto and not the opposite. It is Zaveck who came all the way from Slovenia, to prove himself - and he has done it. It was an unfortunate headbut, which has ruined the night for him. However, he is a fair and big hearted guy, who does not search for excuses and this is, why he is not complaining about it.

Anyway, i agree with you on the fan base. There was litteraly more Slovenian fans in the Biloxi, than Berto's fans. If this fight would of happened in Slovenia, it would of filled a football stadium with ease.

Don't know if it's just me but I think alot of Easter European boxer's use or have used steroid's .The reason I think this is because alot of them have recending hairlines and it's mostly all Easters European's in the sport .Arthur Abraham Valuev alot of guy's you see fighting for the European belts and the Slovenia that's fighting Berto .I can not think of many more boxer's

Don't take anything that this fool says to heart. If you take a look at his past posts they usually make no sense and to this guy there is only one fighter that isn't a "bum" and thats Miguel Cotto.

I agree with you however, Zaveck put up a good performance and obviously did not want the fight to be stopped. I say give the guy a rematch and see if Berto can do it again.

I think it might be just you man. Just because they have a receding hairline doesnt mean that they have used steroids, it usually means that they are getting older and just losing their hair.

I mean if you wanna use receding hairlines as a way to gauge if a fight has used steroids there are plenty of fighters that are bald or have a receding hairline that arent from eastern Eurpoe. i.e. Juan Manuel Maquez, Orlando Salido, Chavez Jr. looks like he might be gettin a bigger widows peak, RJJ is also startin to fade, Joe Calzaghe as well, and thats just to name a few. Interesting observation though.

whaaat? if anything conte's PEDs made berto's head as big and as hard as a bucket. so he used it as a weapon to shred zavec's face to pieces because he knew he was losing. zavec was hardly breaking a sweat in that ring until the headbutt. watch the breaks between rounds.

A receding hairline is a genetic trait which is more common with white men than Asian and black men.
