    Mayorga vs De La Hoya?

    John Whisler, San Antonio Express-News

Mayorga next for Oscar? Oscar De La Hoya apparently has settled on Ricardo Mayorga as his next opponent, according to published reports.

De La Hoya, who earlier had revealed plans to fight May 6 and Sept. 16 of next year, had discussed a rematch with Fernando Vargas. But he decided Mayorga would make the best show.

"He's so aggressive and crazy," De La Hoya said, "it would be a big motivation to me to try to beat him."

No offense to De La Hoya fans, but he is screwed. Mayorga won't get hurt by Oscar and if De La Hoya gets trapped he won't be able to contend to the power of Mayorga. The only way he really has a chance is if he runs between fluries. I see no legit reason for this fight, but will most likely see De La Hoya fall to the canvas once again.

I think its quite smart, Dlh is strong he was not pushed around by Tito. (unlike Mayorga) He is also a far superior boxer.

I would rather see this fight than a rematch against Vargas....

De la Hoya should win this by UD. Mayorga cant hurt what he cant touch, i suspect DLH will use his speed and agility. De La Hoya did not look that bad against a bigger man in hopkins, i expect that he will look even better against one that is more his natural size. Im sure Mayorga jumped all over this opportunity, he is just like everyone else, he is trying to get paid.
I hope Mayorga catches him early in a round, and knocks him the **** out.

            DLH knocks him out late.

The fight will be enjoyable to watch, but Mayorga has little to no chance.

I don't see any Ko for DLH in this fight. That is next to impossible if you ask me. Mayorga has a terrific chin that only Trinidad could get to.

Mayorga didn't look good in his last fight at all to me, so I see this being a fairly easy match for DLH.

While Mayorga's chin may be the last thing that goes, I don't even think that it's as good as it was for his match against Tito.

Based on this, DLH will simply box him most of the time, and slip into a trade here and there. Mayorga will get tired and sloppy (like always) and DLH will put him down for the count.

                  DLH knocks him out.

Mayorga is a wild swinger that lacks a lot of skill.
