I've always said MMA is trash. I think it already peaked I don't see any more tapout shirts or stickers, and they are playing boxing PPV's again around here at bars. I was saying since about 2006 it was just a fad that would go away and it looks to be true.

I'm not only a boxing fan, I try to catch K1 fights but it's hard in America.

I appreciate how hard the fighters work, but it's terrible to watch for me. I'd rather watch Hopkins-Jones 2 then any MMA fight.

Personally, I don't see why some people are offended at the TS. I'm a bigger MMA fan than I am a boxing fan, always have been, always will be. But my love for both arts are unconditional. Some people like boxing, some people like MMA, some like both, that's fine. But like boxing, MMA has its **** fights and it's good fights along with it's fighters.

Grappling, like boxing, is a very technical, scientific art that a person really needs to understand before they can truly appreciate it. The difference is that to the average person, boxing would be easier to get into because you see two guys throwing punches and a fraction of the sport is already understood. When I first got into MMA back in '03 and I'd watch it, people would be like, "awwww so gay! WTF is that ****?!" thankfully now with the sport booming, most people are starting to get the basic submissions, armbars, leglocks, chokes, i see less ignorance. But still, it comes with taste, some people are just bored to death at it, and some people love it. It's just a matter of preference.

That being said, I agree, they shouldn't be compared. Not because one is better than the other but because they are completely different. Yes, Ray Mercer KO'd a fat Tim Sylvia. Does that mean MMA < Boxing? No way. Because a shot Randy Couture whooped the **** outta a shot James Toney, that means nothing. All it means is, in MMA, because you have so many tools, a boxer will always have a punchers chance because they can still punch. In a boxing match, a mixed martial artist will have been stripped of all but one of his tools, and because his one tool(boxing) is inferior to that of a pure boxer, he will lose. Of course these are combat sports and anything could happen on any given day, but 9/10 times a boxer will beat an MMA fighter in a boxing match and the same vice versa.

I personally am not a fan of mma at all but I have def noticed that how many sports bars order ufc ppv's. I must say though in my eyes and I could be wrong but I have witnessed the ufc lose popularity from 2008 to the present. I had buddies who used to be big fans of it and do not really watch it at all anymore. I really believe it has peaked and it is on its way down.
